I just replaced the 3.3 on my 5309 after two gallons of 20%. The old engine showed signs of piston wear, and Traxxis said it could be worn out. $115 and a half gallon later, she starts fine, runs fine, but once warm, quits and does not start back up easily. I am no more than 1/16th turns lean on both HSP and LSP from factory, again running below 250, and nice smoke. Am I chasing a air leak? What gives? I hate to blame it on Traxxis, but surely this engine can't be used up so early?

I sealed the carb and back plate, replaced the plug and fuel lines and started the re-tune process. She is running much better, but still once and again stalls for no apparent reason. What else can I be missing?

Mine I used to have it alittle to rich I think cause I would flood out every so often.... try to lean her out alittle more if you can make sure you dont go too lean.... another thing is have you checked your clutches??

I'll try makin her a little thinner and see what happens. Today she was much better, only quitting a couple three times through the tank. Temps never over 240, and it's 90 here in AL. It seems after 5-6 high speed passes, the stall occurs. At least now it starts back up within 3-5 pulls, less than before.

The ideal range for your temps while your bashing hard should be around 260-270 so your still a little rich. Open your idle up a little not close it, the ideal idle is just low enough to keep the truck from not rolling forward on its own. There is some info on glow plugs and checking them against your tune. Since your on the rich side still that could be causing your plug to have issues starting when its warm. Another thing that may help.

My revo like to run about 260-285. I was having the same issue I just leaned it out a touch and it seemed to be much better.

Nope she liked to run hot. I was talking to the guy at my lhs he races on his track and is a nitro diehard and told me to slowly lean it out. But every nitro is different

my 2.5 i used to have LOVED to be around 290 almost 300 as far as temp goes. . .i never once had an issue with it, ran great, good smoke, and fast. . .my 3.3 liked about 270.. ..and now my picco .26 jl Red dot likes around 255 260 give or take

Update

Yesterdays last tank went pretty well. Most of the day was spent tuning and getting frustrated. Final temps max at 262, and less 240's without screeming on it continuously. BTW, I found a zip tie that measures 0.040, cut it, and used for a gauge for idle & worked well.
