Done deal. Backup error in Vista. Vista puts .bak on the end of the actual user profile, and then can't find it, because the real profile is now in the temp file without .bak.
Had to do a registry edit to reverse them and got it working.

I've got mixed feelings on Vista. It runs well on my laptop (x64 Ultimate Edition). I try to run the same thing on my desktop and the stupid thing starts refusing to boot and needs to be reinstalled at least twice a month. Well, it could be worse. I could be spending all my time polishing a Savage that I keep in a hermetically sealed glass case.....
 
I wish you the best. When you make it to that point I'll consider you a real man. :D

On occasion mine hangs in the boot process and I hold the power switch to kill it, reboot in safe mode...It takes about 4-5 minutes...and as soon as it loads the desktop I turn it off in the normal way, restart, and it boots up fine. Happens about once in every 15-20 starts. Haven't found a reason or a cure. Learned to live with it.
