Can anyone tell me if there is an actual compression testor for nitro engines? And would it be possible to make one?

Never heard of one. I just use the tried and true 'pinch by hand' test, myself.

Just last week I was thinking the same thing, "Is there a compression tester for RC's". At one point in my home ownership I had to pressure test my natural gas lines. The gauge I used measured up to 20 psi (adequate I would think) but it has a 3/8 " threaded end. One would have to scour home depot to find adapters for the glow plug hole (shouldn't be too bad). the gauge cost me about $10. The problem is finding a database of known good compression levels for all the various motors' or I suppose you could measure your motor when NIB and test it as it ages.

Yes they are available. I was going to make one then found they are available so I abandoned the project although I can make one cheaper than THIS.

You're right for the price it's not worth building one'especially with the potential for substantial leaks. As far as needing to know the compression pressure is just nice to know and maybe use " for water cooler" talk about. :D

It doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose on these engines. You feel good compression or you don't. You'll notice it in performance, also.
It serves a purpose to find a faulty cylinder in a multi-piston engine.
