I just got this Savage together and I'm having a problem with the clutch. The motor has to really wind out and it barely even moves. Since there is no real adjustment for the clutch slipping that I'm aware of other them maybe lighter springs on the clutch shoes. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

x2 on the slipper

But check the clutch bell and shoes for contamination, sand/scuff them to get more grip too while it is apart.

Did you go into the trans at all for anything?

HTH...
