That is a pretty unique clutch system for the savage. I've never come across it before. Maybe someone else has.

I guess the only drawback to it would be if you had to replace a part, you would have to replace the whole thing. Other than that, the concept seems pretty good.

Later...

Thats basically a replica of the Fironi Sliding Clutch setup for about $22 cheaper.

http://meganitro.com/Fioroni mp7.5.htm#Clutch (scroll up a bit to see it)

I've tried the Fironi setup with my Picco .26 and I would have to mod the engine mounts to make it fit. Because of the flywheel design it pushes the teeth to the CB out further from the engine than the stock or Mugen setup does. That causes the Spur to line up with the bell and not the teeth on the CB.

I dont know if this clutch setup solves that problem or not but from the pics they look exactly the same.

great, now you got me worried about my setup, I just bought two of the Fioroni type for my twin .26 Maxx. The guy at the LHS said that's what he was runnin and he liked it a lot. Supposed to have a lot more contact area.. looks like it. But it'll be a while before I try it out (still in design and build)

When I put it into my existing engine on my Inferno it was fine but when I tried to put it on the Picco .26 for my Savage it didnt fit.

Actually the one that mudbug is showing would be $11.20 cheaper than the ones you are showing from Fiorini. With the Fiorini, the fly wheel and the carbon clutch come separate, which is $25.00 for each set. The one above is $38.80 for the whole set.

:mex:

yes, I forgot i bought both the Teflon and Carbon shoes at the same time. Thats why I thought there was a bigger diff in price.

I agree with robriguez. That looks just like the Fioroni setup I have sitting in my hands. I haven't installed it yet. So thanks for the heads up robriguez.

According to that site it says

"This is a direct replacement for the Savage 21, SS and 25. No additional modifications are required."
