I went to take apart my clutch today, and realized it is not like what I remember from other clutches I have seen. Instead of having a spring pushing each shoe out to the clutch bell, it is just a single spring pressing in on the four shoes. When I say in i mean in the same direction that you would look if you stared at the engine from the front (clutch bell forward, pipe rearward). It is made by Werks Racing. Anyone know anything about these? Does that spring make it adjustable, by tightening or loosening?

I beleive th espring tension should keep the clutch from engaging faster...ie the tighter the spring the slower the engagement.....I think it keeps the clutch from sliding towards the CB.....instead of spreading out w/ little "flapper" shoes is it one or 2 big cone shaped shoes?

Sorry, I posted without enough research. Way down the list on Google, I found their web site oddly enough named www.werksracing.com. I bought the car used with this setup. I am surprised this isn't a hot setup with racers. It is really adjustable. For $90, you get your choice of pad compound, high traction (rulon), long wear (teflon), or in between (carbon). It also comes with three different springs for the pressure plate to adjust tension. And you can adjust preload on the pressure plate as well for any given spring. You can see what it looks like here: http://werksracing.com/clutch.jsp

yeah that's the one I thought..although I didn't know it was 4 shoes...I thought they were 2....I think the only reason it's not popular is the price vs. performance cost......not much better than the standard clutch and the shoes are less......run it at the lightest setting w/ carbon shoes and see what you get.....should hook up like drunk chicks at a house party......

Plaid I run these clutchs, they are a great clutch, been running the same clutch for a season and a half now, only problem I've had with them, is on the 421b, motor had so much low down grunt it would leave the load nut behind and the clutch would come in to late, the way they work is better on your shoes, bell and clutch bearings, cause all shoes contact at the same time, being controlled by the same spring.

Sounds cool...I'm waiting to see how many people are hot on those turbo sliding fioroni setups...I tried a friends MGT w/ the 6 point clutch and it rocked I 'm waiting to see how long they last.......I may have to try this sportwerks setup though if I hear more good thing about them......

actually these are the hot setup with recers.

mike to control your clutch from setting itself. take a pair of dikes and crimp the nut on 3 of the sides over the threads. that will be enough resistance to hold the setting.

cheers corrado, lock tite doesn't seem to do it that well, so i will try that

Ok Got to bring this one up. What tension is for the three springs that come with the werks clutch? I am running the licht bright yellow and it seems that my clutch just spins and never engages. Could a shim cause this or am I having an adjustment problem. I just took it aprt to use this different sprin. I was using the light bronze one. Ideas?

i would say go in a few more turns (have bout 3 -4 threads showin)
