hi guys ...took the toy out today ..had fun for a bit ..then my clutch spring gave up ...brought it in ..fixed it ...went back out ...burnt a tank , and did the same as before ..took it back in ..spring was ok ..but clutch shoe broke

just wondering whats the best clutch for my 3.3 ...i have another stock one on the way ..but i wouldnt mind upgrating it ..that one had about 1.5 gall burnt

any advice would be cool :D ..thanks

Sounds to me like your clutch is overheating, get some sand paper (220 grit or so) sand the inside of your clutch bell to break the glaze. Hit your new clutch shoes lightly as well. Clean any dust out and reassemble. This will give your clutch more bite and prevent slipping and overheating.

i have red that the ''intergarbage''( integy ) ones are pretty decent ...and from what i saw ..not to expensive either ...and if i go to a 3 shoe clutch , can i keep my original clutch bell ??

the clutch shoe broke where the hole for the pin is ...and no glaze on it..i checked it before i put it back the first time after the spring broke ..i dont see any overheating evidence

Honestly you don't have to upgrade your clutch, I have run stock clutches with ofna picco .26 xtm 24.7 hyper .21 and a whole host of other high performance engines. You can upgrade it three shoe and four shoe clutches work fine stay away from aluminum shoes though they can damage your clutch bell.

If your clutch bell looks at all smooth even a little bit it is glazed, it does not take much heat at all to cause a clutch spring to break.

cool ..thanks ..but the second time , the spring was fine , even if its in 2 parts now ..lol..

do shoes brake often ?? or do you think it was caused by heat ??

They can break it is not common more than likely the shoe was damaged when the spring broke. I ran the same stock clutch in my big block t maxx for years with no issues at all.

Yes the integy 7075 is good. They last a good 3-4 gallons and are tough. However, to avoid giving more money to integy, I would try an ofna, at least they have a reputation. The stock shoes will break, and honestly they are pretty tough, but I can't rely on them to stay together. I run 3 shoe on all my rigs. I've had no clutch bell problems with the integarbage shoes either. I'm going to try the ofnas in the near future.

The stock bell is fine. Aluminum is softer than steel it shouldn't hurt the stock bell. I can't find a part # for the ofna, but it's out there.. I had it written down but lost it.

While aluminum is in fact softer than steel it can bend steel, I have run aluminum shoes without issue in the past but I have also had aluminum shoes bend my clutch bells. Granted it was on a big block so there is considerable torque there but all the same they just aren't needed. Further more you will have some parasitic loss from the added rotational mass of the aluminum shoes.

I really don't think three small aluminum shoes are gonna weigh much more than two composite shoes plus the spring. IMO a good 3 shoe clutch is way better than the stock one. The choice is yours Mcguyver, I know what I'm sticking to.

the m2c racing 3 shoe clutch system works very well and is recommanded by steve
