Hi all,

I have a Kyosho Nitro Ultima St. The motor is dead because of a worn out connecting rod. I want to put a O.S .15 in there with the 20 mm mounts. I was wondering if i keep the flywheel the nut and the bell(which i figured out all bells are the same size but the gears are different) can i put in new hpi clutch shoes? Or will the holes not line up with the pins in the flywheel? What parts of a clutch assembly are universal and what parts are different Thanks. :spit:

I'm not sure about the crankshaft type needed, but you should be able to bolt an OS .15 right in - it should be the exact same footprint. Just keep in mind, you'll have to make sure it's a side exhaust engine, so you can use the existing header pipe.

As for the carb, you'll have to make sure it's the same type (rotary or slide).

Outside of that, it should be a direct drop in (unless kyosho does some funky proprietary engine mount system on that truck).

What you could do is call tower hobbies (they're actually Great Planes) and ask them about the fit of that engine in that model - they can tell you exactly what you need.

Yes, I am aware that Tower dropped Kyosho, but the service reps there should still have that info on file.

Correction; after searching Google (using the image part), The GX15 has integrated engine mounts. That basically means that you can NOT use anything other than the GX15. Sorry, but unless you get an aftermarket mount, you're at a loss.....

I know that thanks. The Gx-15 motor is actuall a mount intagrated into the motor. thats why I'm getting mounts and drilling holes in the chassis. I really need yo know if i can take any bell, from any manu facturar and use it w/ any nut, flywheel and shoes. I have the flywheel, bell, nut, but it looks like i need new shoes. Will any brand fit?

This is the motor i want too use when i get the 20mm mounts.

That one should be a fine fit. The The only concern is your clutch. Have you taken the engine out of the truck yet? if you have the engine out, take off the clip/remove the screw from the end of the bell, and set that, the bearings, and the shoes all aside. next, grab some channel lock pliers, and get a good grip on the flywheel. while mantaining a grip, use the glowplug wrench (that's usually the size of a 1/10 scale clutch nut) and remove the clutch nut. after that, put the crankshaft onto a table, and give the flywheel a few gentle taps from behind. it should fall off after about 2-3 taps. Next, remove the little brass cone from under the flywheel. after that, you can put the old engine in the junk pile.

Once you get the flywheel off, you should be able to tell if it's a pilot shaft, or a "shortened GT-style" shaft. If it's the shorter type, a dremel and a cutoff wheel might be needed.

Hope that helps a bit!

I have the engine all apart including the cutch parts. So is the flywheel going to work on any clutch shoes? I'm going to get the new motor, mount it w/ the 20mm mounts, put on the stock flywheel, nut, and bell. I am wondering will all those fit on that motor or not? All i need is the shoes and i need to know if any shoes will fit. Thanks

I don't know if the stock clutch nut will work, but everything else should carry over.

i went to my local hobby shop and ordered that motor and mount i showed you. I bought a new clutch shoe and it fits fine. So now i have to wait till wednesday untill the parts arive and i will install them. Thanks for your help when I'm done there will be PICS!! :sniper:
