Picked up a Clodbuster on Fleabay today. Can't wait til it gets here, already got a new chassis designed for it. I'll post more on it once it gets here.

Right now I am in the process of tear it down to the axles. Soon as i get it down to the axles I will be able to finalize my new chassis design.

Those clods are sweet, just curious but why are so many people using these for Rock Crawlers? I've seen a really sweet on posted here I think it was Nc,s anyway nice truck and post pics once you get it done good luck :)

i think reason a lot of people are using them for rock crawlers is that they are solid axle, not independent suspension. With the solid axles you can articulate them, allowing them to turn up to 90 degrees sideways like in this pic:

This allows you to get through some tight spots.

Jesse the clods are! bought for well the axles lol..Like svenz said the axles are solid...Tere out them and build a custom chassie POW you are crawling...Well almost

Do any of you guys have a link to any rock crawling chassises, or to any sites that sell them. I'm working on building my own monster Truck and I'm trying to get ideas for how i can build the chassis and all. Thanks

I see makes sence. It would be cool to make your own axles like out of a T-Maxx wouldnt be to hard to make it a solid unit. Just lots of superglue and Jb weld lmao :jk: I want to build a rock crawler there are tons of places to go here in the Rocky Mnts which are about 20 minutes from here. I think if I ever build one I will just use all the parts I have lying around hehe

well i have heard of people takeing e-maxxs and turning them into rock crawlers, but like you said you will have to make them into a solid unit

Well I'm building a rock crawler ''i guess thats what you would call it'' i guess thats why i wanted to see chassis types so i could get an idea. R/C Jack is the one who kinda i guess got the idea in my head after i saw his two threads. Man its gonna be fun makin an R/C insted of buying one cuz now i can say yeah i built it. lol

Yeah that another good thing about making your own its a hell of a lot cheaper. Well I got the axles off the clod chassis:

Thanks Bruce, I'll let you know if I need something from them.
Definatly the stock motors have to go, as I am straped for cash right now. So they are going to have to wait right now. Since I am low on funds I have decide to make my chassis out of an out street sign. :D Its not quite 1/8th aluminum, but it will do.

Laid out the templates on the street sign to be cut out. I used a hack-saw and a dremel with the reenforced cut-off wheels to cut them out. Lucky for me when I was looking for the Dremel I found some scrap 1/4" x 1/4" SS bars. Which works out perfect cause I was going to go out and by some 1/4" x 1/4" aluminum bars, YAH less money I got to spend. (camera battery died, so no pics of the chassis plates, yet)
