IS it normal for the T-maxx to keep jerking and click everytime when taking off? How can I fix it?

How new is the T-Maxx?

If it is brand new or close to new, this is normal. The tranny is still trying to break itself in. Once it gets past that, the ride will smooth out.

If it is not new, then you may have any one of a number of problems. All of them point to either the tranny or the diffs.

It is normal. The reason it does that is that there are actually 2 clutces. One on the engine and one in the transmission. The jerking comes from the tranny clutch trying to engage. As you break in the truck, that jerking will start to diminish. So don't worry too much about it. Just make sure you set the idle low enough to keep it from jerking while standing still...

If you really hate it, you'd have to install a Forward Only Conversion (FOC) which removes the internal clutch. But then you don't have reverse...

The shuddering upon take off wont go away from break in as Candy explained above its the forward/reverse clutch engaging. If you are at an idle and it clicks forward without you touching the throttle then your idle is too high.

Really...I guess we all have different experiences. I have the original tranny in my T-Maxx, and I have no hesitation or shuddering upon take-off. The clicking, shuddering and hesitation went away after about three tanks of fuel (break in for the tranny).

Actually, I said it will diminish as the truck is run. Mine did the same. There still was a little jerking if the idle was too high, but when the truck was running right, it was barely noticeable...

Mine was always jerky until I installed the FOC. That got rid of all of it. Then, it was just pure GO POWER ON JAM FLY SLAM from then on out.

'F'orward 'O'nly 'C'onversion. You're not dumn or ignorant. And now, you are just smarter ;)

It is installed in the tranny and you remove the reverse gearing as well as the servo. This saves on weight, increases performance, gets rid of that jerking you see and in the end, you only lose reverse.

Or you can do a crazy FOC (kinda). I don't have the servo mounts for my chassis (bought a used chassis). And I haven't bought the kit, so I just use a rubber band to hold the fwd/rev. switch.

Prob. won't really help other than reduced weight of servo. I'm just using this for a delay. I'm waiting for that OTB transmission I have heard about.

All that does is make it so you can't reverse. It doesn't take the clutching system out or reduce the tranny rotaional weight. The servo is a little weight but you dont really gain anything there.
