I know this has been discussed in the past but was curious how much easier it is to use?The stock one sucks to get back into place. Is the clear one as much of a pig to get back into place?

I just read this about it on tower, I might have to try one.

Clear polycarbonate construction can be painted or left clear for
easy visual inspection of radio equipment
More flexible than stock nylon cover and easily removed for quick
equipment maintenance
Overspray film on outside of cover

I don't have the clear one but it's made from polycarbonate plastic, like the r/c bodies, which means it should be much more flexible. It also means it's not as strong which might not matter here but I would also think the fit won't be as good. I'd recommend using a rechargable 6v radio battery and doing something like this so you don't have to remove the cover:

or for a quicker but not quite as neat method notch the lid like I did though the method above is much slicker:

I have the clear cover and it IS easier to remove and replace only for the fact that it is more flexible. The Fit is not as exact as the original cover (even after trying to trim it as perfectly as I could), because of that its not as water proof, its not as strong (not that its needs to be) but for me its was a wonderful upgrade. I have just recently gotten a NiMh 6v receiver pack so its not as much of an issue any more but I used to run only standard AA batts and it was a major pain to have to wrestle with the stock cover all the time.

I have the clear cover now too. it is easier to get into the box and get it back together, but the clear cover allows quite a bit of dust in.

Thanks for the input fellas. I'm gonna have to get one. The stock one is a pain in the ass, so even making it a little easier, is money well spent.

Thats is a nice cover crzy but what are the materials and equipment needed to make it? Would it cost more or less than the HPI piece?

iv had one and there Shi* wait and get the savage X box and lid

Crzy ya posted that before but never gave tips how to do it. Give a brotha some pointers man!! lol

Short what makes them "poop"?

if u search on RCU on vacum forming u can figure out how to make molds. will cost about a doller in material, 5 bucks in material to make molds and like 3 bucks in electricity. good part is u can make it bigger/smaller then stock and have it fit ur needs sinc eur molding it urself

I still say the best way is to make it so you don't have to remove it but to each his own. I will tell you though that when I put in the 6v NiMH battery instead of the 4 AA's you could easily see the difference how much better the steering was. It can deliver more consistant power for a longer period of time where AA's slowly get weaker and weaker.

The 6v pack is great advise, thats all I use but I still want the clear cover. I'm always messing with something so if it makes it easier ti's worth it. Plus I like the way it looks.

I do have a hump pack, but I still dont want to have to hassle with it when I do have to open it up.
