ARA Headwaters Rally in Walker, MN runs off today. Got my RC runs in earlier this week.

MT10RS in orange posted the better time of 9m:37s combined and corrected time for 3 stages.

Rustler Super 2 came in at 12m:04s combined and corrected for penalties. To its credit, don't think there was a dot on the course that it didn't either displace or upset. Pretty much undriveable. That and I miscounted a lap on Stage 2. That cost me a 60s penalty. That and my set up needs a bit of chassis tuning for rally.

However, Rustler did salvage a bit of pride coming away with the better speed index (S.I.) 9.65 to MT10RS 9.30. Found a short stretch to goose the Rustler to at least assure starting first next event. Small reward but much appreciated by the rail birds. :p

Oh, and yeah, that's me in Parc Expose 'press release' for the RC Talk crowd. Cheers. -AC

I'm pretty sure I saw your pic in Nascar a few years back. 🤔 You drove for STP, right?

Sounds like a bit of a rough start, lol! Still, a fantastic way to spend a morning! 😎👍

Ha! You probably saw me back '94 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I was one of the guys atop the Legion bus viewing platform in the infield. Closest I've ever been to a NASCAR event. Yeah, me and Andy go way back. Like I used STP in the 60s.

This RC rally thing. It's all good. Still learning the ins-and-outs of procedure. Once I get that down, can focus on set up and driving. Have the Rlaarlo 1/10 rally roller in the post. It'll get a build thread here. Cheers, mate. -AC

The event that never was - at least in RC at my home track. ARA US rally schedule did not include a regional rally for June I could model an event after. Latched onto the Forest Rally in Nannup, Australia as an alternate. It had two short 8 mile special stages that would work well for my back yard.

Then the heavy, continual rains came here. Tried in vain to keep the course cut and ready to go if the weather broke. Never did. Had time cards prepared and both trucks at the ready. Have the layout photo documented so guess put it off until June, 2027. Try again next year.

Anyway, it was an open course as far as the RC rally courses I've been following on IG. One month out now until an ARA scheduled regional rally in Missouri. Time to let this course grow back and re-cut a new one for July. Cheers. -AC

ARA Missouri Ozark Rally runs off tomorrow. Got the RC version of it in early as rain is forecast here for the weekend. Ran three of the four planned stages off in the evening to beat the blistering sun. Still hot and humid. Could use approaching darkness as an excuse to stop after three stages, but truth be know, I was beat for the heat.

Still no jump yet, Doom! But have at least a small crest planned for the future. In the stead put in a traffic circle for spectator appeal (in the event I ever have any spectators :D ) Cut the circle a bit tight for 1/10 scale. Next one will have a wider radius. Crossover was kind of cool. Stages alternate running both ways. First stage to the east - since the event is in the eastern US. Second stage to the west and so on.

Only one entrant for this event. Summer's a bear here for RC. Cheers. -AC

Thanks for the vid, man. Love the sound of a rally car at full song. You selected a great vantage point off the downhill sweeper. Camera took a couple of hits. Hope you weren't holding it.

Here's what put the hook in me to try RC rally. Tamiya Gazoo Racing mini 4WD. Decided I didn't need another expensive hobby, so she's a shelf queen now.

Cheers. -AC

Really like the track layout. :thumbs-up:

Thanks, guys. Yeah, track seems to flow well going either direction - driver skill not withstanding. Keeping it for the upcoming ARA Colorado [RC] Rally next weekend. Two changes though. One, will do only one lap around the traffic circle instead of two. Two, will cut the infield grass and the outer fringe to a level 6 on the lawn mower. Left it at its overgrown length for the Ozark rally. Could sometimes power out but had to self-marshal more than I liked. Each self-marshal adds a two second penalty to the run time for the stage. P-L Icon tires are good all-terrain tires . . . except as it seems for medium-high grass. Determined to stay with a rally-style tread pattern even if it costs time. Cheers and thanks again for looking in. -AC

The track looks like great fun!

Say what you want about that driver guy but I already bet $100 for him to place 1st, 2nd AND 3rd!!! I got really good odds in Vegas because it was the start of the season. :thumbs-up:

You'll see!!! ;)🤣

Ha. Yeah Mike. Driver scored one point for each of the three stages completed. No O/A win point though. With no other entrant, awarding an O/A point did not make sense. So, yeah, your bet is covered for best time stage wins.

Am continuing my search on Google Earth Pro for a suitable gravel or dirt site to run an away event. Or at least a stage or two. No variety of tracks in the Houston area that might support a RC rally course set-up. Something will pop up though. Just gotta keep looking. -AC
