I'm such a wanker. This makes thread number two and I'm not done with thread number one yet.

My son wants a gas truck bad. He is only 9, but he's shown some great respect for my GT. I think he would do fine with his own. Pop, however, doesn't have the cabage to throw down for another rtr truck.

What kits can I buy for cheap? (no radio, no engine, etc) A truck would be nice something he could take off road bashing with me.

woah mounts that dont suck! The idea to change the body mounts never crossed my mind. Thanks X

my wife put a bid on a rc10gt for matt:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3120286967&category=19168

gonna end in an hour and his reserve hasn't been met yet so I dont think we'll get it for our budget ($150 or so). I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

I was looking for these "kit" things all over on tower. Its like all they sell are rtr and pre-built. You guys mentioned artr but I didn't see any of those either. I figure something you have to assemble yourself that has no engine or radio should be cheaper than the rtr versions.

search eBay. Some people have decent kits on there for sale, sometimes if you get lucky you can find someone wanting to get out of the hobby and just sell their stuff ASAP.

Actually RTR are normally cheaper than getting a kit. Its the nature of the beast. Since they are selling mass qaunity...X

I've been checking ebay everyday :)

i never knew rtr would be cheaper than a kit... jeez

Did you get it? robnwendy won the auction for 138 buckaroo's. If it's an RC10GT It was well worth it. :) if it has an OS with it that is. :)

It actually did not meet the reserve and has been relisted. Good luck Rob getting a truck for your son. :)

Heres a nice truck Rob, you could always get something like this for yourself and pass the other truck down to your son

Losi XXXNT

Another One

Well what I mean is in the long run RTR are always cheaper than a kit. This is because they are prepackaged with motor and Radio.

A kit its self sometimes is cheaper than a RTR but when you add electronics and an engine then its almost always more expensive. Just hard to compete with RTR prices. Also RTR is becoming the fad to get more people in the hobby. Most diehard people want kit form only so they can say they built it and got to choose what they wanted for it. Most others just want somethings as soon as they get it they pour in the fuel and go...

So since its normally die hards that want kits they are normally more expensive becuase they include better parts normally. In the case of Losi xxx-nt kit compared to the RTR and ARTR

The kit is made in Cali with losi special plastic compound the RTR and ARTR is made overseas because of the pricing.. Its an identical truck the plasitics are just not of the same qaulity. They are all stamped RTR on each part. But when you get a replacement part it all comes from cali. So go figure...

One side note I made a post about everyform of xxx-nt made in kit and RTR and ARTR I am only speaking about kits in current production above. There was a special edition Team Built kit but they only made 500 so that is not included in the built overseas info above...X
