I have a f4.1 savage running 30% nitro and i'm doing a engine swap to a k5.9 that has been running 20% Can I switch from my k5.9 from 20% nitro to 30% nitro with just some carb tuning or do I have to run 20% nitro in the k5.9?
I bought the k5.9 and the seller said the engine has less then 5 gal of through it.

you can switch to 30% nitro and re-tuned your car, sometimes you have to change also the glow plug you are using. Cause for me in summer time in 30% nitro I used A5 glow plug or R5 but, when its colder time I used OS#8. It depends on how your engine run.

not to thread hijack, but I've been looking for a good glowplug/fuel/outside temp database or chart, anyone have a link?

The plug temp range has nothing to do with ambient temps. The heat range of the plug will dictate when the air/fuel ignites IE a cold plug will retard the timing and may be better for high nitro while a hot plug will advance the timing which is good for break-in and lower content nitro fuels. I find that the MC #8 is the best all around plug for most stock engines running 20%-30% nitro.

Thanks for that info on heat ranges ... I never fully understood them before and always thought they were tied to ambient temps.

I have been using 20% fuel with a MC-59 but after having some temp issues with my 5.9 I switched to 30% and used an MC-8 and it has worked perfectly. The truck runs much better and is almost 30 degrees cooler. It is also much easier to tune.
