Hey guys,

Well, my ACNCM cooling head is in and on the maxx. I had to seriously dremel my body in order to get it back on after the head was in place, but it is on and looks great. I was told to look for shims when I took it off. I did not see any. I looked at the back of the stock head and there was a copper ring around the glow plug hole, but that seemed to be part of the head, I could not get it off. I just simply took the old head off and put the new ACNCM head on making sure to line up the holes and tighting the screws in a star pattern until they were all tight. Did I miss something? Also you say that if your temp is too cold when you run the maxx with the new head you may never get up to temp. How warm should it be when you run the maxx with the new head? I was hoping to get out and run it as soon as the sun was out and the temp was above 45, but I read a thread that I should run it if the temp is below 60. What do you guys recomend? Where I live the summers are hot so it won't be an issue then but the spring may be an issue. Thanks

Tom

You If there were no shims on the head, they are probably on the engine block, so i think you are ok there.

The shim is that copper ring on the stock head. If you use an exacto knife it will come right off. It is probably better to get a new one though since it is probably a buit compressed. You can get a new set of different thicknesses from you lhs, but these are very impiortant for proper compression. When I changed ming I had the same experience and was surprised when the copper ring came right off. Dremmeling the body was a pain, and it is hard to get it to clear all of the fins on the head, but it is definitely worth the work. Get your shim though!

I have been running my Maxx with the giant head in northern IL. The temps have been about 40-45 and I haven't had any trouble getting up to temp. Just make sure you adjust your HSN when the outside temp does get hotter.

Thanks for the info. I will go and take an exacto knife and see if I can't get it off. Until I can get to the LHS to get some new ones thanks again.
