So I'm thinkin of swapping my brake pads to a stainless steel version, or would you guys reccomnd another?
But thats not really an issue, I'm curious as how I'd swap them, do I just remove the gear box and do it from there? Or is the gear box connected to other things that will make it a pain taking out?
Thanks,
Oh and its a Savage X.
:)

You have to remove the two screws that hold the stock brakes. Then you replace everything with the SS brakes. I believe you have to change the brake hub too. Make sure you keep the brass piece in there and that it's fitted on the brake shaft.

Alright so I assume you take out the gear box to do that? Since the brake discs are built on there right? So in order to take that out I just unscrew the two screws holding it on the left and right side? Or do I have to mess with other things?

Or am I over thinking it? Sorry it's my first hop up on my Savage.

Yes, you just have to take out the tranny case. It's fairly easy to do too, so don't worry. Just don't overtighten the two screws after.

Don't swap to the steel brakes, they perform worse than the red fiber brakes do.
They heat up quick and fade out. The red brakes are 10X better.

thanks man, i saw vids ofthe steel brakes and i see them flipping over on hard stops, which i dislike, how are the red fiber brakes compared to them?
