Well those of you who read my older post know I should be getting a 2.5R engine but my plans changed. I got an under the table job at 8 bucks an hour workin weekends. This weekend I made 96 bucks. I figure if I get money like this I can afford to beef up my drive train and get a 3.3 engine. I figure this week I'll get metal drive shafts and center shafts, next week I will get a t maxx 3.3 tranny, and the week after that I'll get the 3.3 engine. We got tons of snow and we are getting more in a few days so I figure I won't be able to use my truck for a few weeks so I don't mind the wait. What kind of metal shafts should I get? I know nothing about this. Also, is there anything else on my drive line I should upgrade? My chassis is the stock 2.5 chassis. Before I get the 3.3 engine is there any other engine that is better than the 3.3 that is 110 bucks or cheaper?

Thanks,
Austin

I would get the traxxas cvd's or stock t maxx 3.3 shafts. The stock 3.3 shafts are plenty strong. BEWARE CHEAPO SHAFTS (metal universals). And I would get the engine first, you could lose your job at any time....not that you will, but you could.

That's cool about the job, I was just saying that anything's possible, I would get the expensive stuff first that's all. Make sure you get the correct center shafts for your rig, probably the two short ones, not the long and short ones. The trx cvd's are nice, plenty strong and reliable. Plus you know they'll fit right. Do you have a forward only? Your stock trans should handle a 3.3 if you just get a forward only conversion.

Ok, stock 3.3 shafts will be fine too.

Yea I kinda ditched the metal shafts after I put em in my cart and saw the total price. So they are the right cener shafts? So my 25 tranny will handle a 33? It's pretty chewed and worn after all those years

I would just get the traxxas ones when you can afford it, or get the stock plastic from a 3.3 maxx (#4909). They are revo spec, they should be much beefier than the stock shafts you have now. Unless you have a maxx 2.5R, which I believe is a relatively rare machine.

I just looked. The shafts you have are the older, wimpy style. The 5451 shafts off a newer maxx are way better.

They look right, but do your homework first. Try going on traxxas and checking the part # against the model # of your truck. I'm 99% sure those are the ones, but I'd hate to see ya get the wrong pieces.:D
