I prefer the X style gear box....easier to work on. The three speed is a nice touch....but cheaper to build yourself.

Go to E-Bay man, Nitronutz sells complete brand new X trannies for under 20 bucks.
3 speeds from the XL are going for around 80 bucks.

I would listen to Scrogg and go to nitronutz and make sure you get the xl 3speed as it comes with high speed third gear in the stock version.

You may also wanna look at rchobby4less on ebay, they sell the xl 3 speed for $55. That is a great deal.

You can put an X-style box in the older .25. All the holes line up (I've done it, it works). Also, all the bearings, shafts, reverse module and 2/3 speeds fit both boxes.

Not to mention you can change spurs without pulling th engine!:whhooo:
