My center diff has leaked ever since I got it. I have changed the little blue seals and the black gasket a number of times now with no luck. So instead of packing another wad of 600K diff lube in to it I tried something different. I packed it with Permatex Silicone grease. It seemed to have somewhat the same consistancy as the diff lube if not a little heavier. I don't think it will cause any issues but I wonder what you folks think. I am testing tonight! I will let you know what I find out.

I took my tranny apart shortly after I installed the center diff (to clean everything) and didn't notice any leaking fluids. But now I'm wondering..... dang it, now I'm going to have to check mine.....LOL

The little gasket that keys into the cup is a royal pain to get in and keep it seated if you put tooo much fluid in. It took me several tries but mine does not leak a drop with 300K in. It pullls the truck around nicely, i can corner as good as the truggies with the 300K on blue groove surfaces/dusty loose tracks.

Do you like the center diff option and would you recommend it? I've been thinking about it... Have you tried using sealer? RTV? or where is it leaking from?

Like Scrogg said, it's most likely the rubber gasket that is keyed to fit a certain way. It likes to curl up and generally be a royal PITA.

I have the center diff and love it. You lose your reverse, but you can then ditch the Opti-drive, the shifting servo and a crap load of extra gears/parts from the tranny. The few times I have to go turn the rig around since I'm missing the reverse is nothing compared to the better traction, less rotational mass in the tranny.
