has anyone seen one of these things run.....I'm interested in knowing how they are.....so drop some info....

Not really impressed with it at the local track here. We had quite a few varieties out at the track last weekend to include:

Smartech, Cen, RS4's, TC3's, MTX and a R40....

Smartech and Cen and RS4's didn't impress anyone there....and endured some good breakage in a pileup in the first turn. Cen and one of the RS4's made it back for the main but took up the rear.

Our TC3's did well....the MTX was taken out by another driver but was back for the main and took the crown. The R40 ran very well.

Final results were MTX, TC3, R40, TC3 and then the rest....

Chris

There garbage & try to find parts are hard both the CEN & Smartech are copys of HPI if you are new & looking to spend under $300 the new duratraxx is coming out

710baby, what the hell are you talking about garbage? have you ever even seen one run? probably not so why don't you shut your damn hole. just an fyi, i own one and run with a pack of r40's, not only does the ct4 handle just as good, if you install the 17 or 16t pulleys it's smokes any r40 regardless of engine off the line, as for parts, i haven't had to order any because nothing ever breaks, unlike many other crappy rtr's including hpi's evo... i had a friend who spent more than the price he paid for it, fixing and hopping that dumb thing up and the bare stock ct4 still killed it.... hmmmmmmmmmm garbage eh... back to your cave you opinionative speculatory jack ass!

don't say the cen is a copy of hpi, what would they be copying? all of hpi's cars are crap with shaft drive and not raceable except for the r40(whic is "belt drive"), and hey the ct4 and r40 have slight resemblences so who cares, are you saying a ford mustand and pontiac trans am don't have slight resembelences too? common people, there's not much overal innovation left in this industry so don't kid your self....

calinitrotc3, keep your race results to your self, because the mtx finished first that day, if i buy one - it will make me a better driver? no! so why the hell are you saying the the car is no good because there was crappy drivers behind the wheel, again, give me facts not this opinion crap, this whole "sport" is 90% driver

p.s. don't ever use the words smarttech and cen in the same sentence please

roarchampion,
who the HELL are you?

I'm not too sure on how easy it will be for you to find parts for your cen unless you like to wait shipping. if you should go down to your local hobby shop and check to see what car parts they stock.

710 is giving his opinion. And YES, he has seen them run. And for being a NEWBIE u have some BALLS attacking a veteran member.

balls ain't the only thing i got :boxing:

and what do you mean by veteran? veteran nerd that wastes hours of his day in these forums? wow sign me up!

smartech is not really a smart buy. Lots of their stuf is only available from ordering straight from the company. Very little LHS suport, same goes for the Cen. I've seen a smartech run, wasn't impressed, same goes for the cen ct-4s. I saw that run at the track where 710Baby and I race regularly during the season. I tried it out and did not like it one bit. Steering was sloppy, handleing was poor and off balanced, suspension was in need of an overhaul (all from a 2 week old car). The owner sold it and got an NTC3 and couldn't be happier.

IMHO, stay away from the Cen CT-4S if you plan to race. It's strictly a park basher that will probably stay at the park. If you want a good performer that will grow with you, to a point, get the NTC3 or R40. Both good cars and good performers, racer or park basher.

If you really want an opinion that will help you decide what's good, go to your LHS and see what cars they support.

Well, I own one and personally I'm pleased with it. Like the others have metioned above, go to your local hobby shop to see what parts are avaliable. I have owned mine for a few weeks now and I really like it. If you want to race, personally I would change the engine and the gear ratios, i.e. changing the two 25 teeth pullys to 16 or 17 teeth. Its really geared for top end out of the box. It really moves once its going. Acceleration is really bad, I thnk. Also for a stock car, you do have some adjustability in the suspesion and camber, toe, and so on. For someone who is looking for a first time touring car and a parking lot basher its fine. Just my opinion. Another thing, when new, I did have problems with the center belt coming off the rear pully. Once I got it tight and broken in alittle it was fine.

Just like any other bone stock car there will be flaws. Off the top of my head I couldn't name one car that doesn't have some flaws stock. Alittle suspesion adjustments, maybe a new radio and servos and some time, i think you will have a nice car. But its totally up to you and what you want the car for. You can asked for opinions all day and your gonna different views. Man, its all what you want to do. DROCK 57.

Your attitude is unwanted here... I really suggest that you chill out... Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Dont just come in here and start throwin punches my friend, or you'll find yourself out of here quicker than you came in...
You've been warned..

Dude I seen then come & go & worked on a couple of them & they are one thing you pay for what you get. there is not one piece on there that is compatible if you were looking to get in this hobby the cheap way you did it  but you could of bought a duratrax streetforce @ least it get's LHS support & I would rather work on this car than your Cen & enjot it till it breaks & becareful with the engine it is very hard to keep it's tune that's the best advice I can give you. Nerd you called me now that's funny but your car will still suck ass & lol don't take it so personal there are a lot of guys who race weekly & know it is a difference in cars & sometimes it's the car that help you win driving is another thing you will learn :spit:

diver, you're telling me that any rtr has good handling and a good suspension setup out of the box... yeah... right, keep kiddin your self, it's too bad you drove a car with a crappy setup, my car handles like it's on rails.... geez you guys otta start hanging with people that know how to drive and know how to setup a car...

Good evening and welcome to RCNT. Do you prefer to go by roarchampion or cncman? Just curious. Regardless, I'd like to point out something that you might have missed, the rules link near the top of the page. Upon reading the information there, you might find that personal attacks are not looked on with high regard.

In other words, you have signed up to join a site and made a grand total of three posts. Each and every one of your posts include some kind of comment that can be construed as a personal attack against another member here. Not only that, your comments also show a great lack of respect for people in general.

If the people that frequent this site are "nerds" as you put it, then why have you signed up for and made any posts here? Could it be that you are also a nerd?

Further, you have made some very nice claims regarding the vehicle in question. You have stated your opinion and laid waste to other vehicles...but you have failed to provide any supporting information that would make your point of view remotely valid. The others, while not speaking highly of the vehicle have offered their reasoning for not liking it by comparing it to other known vehicles and showing how they did at their local tracks. Such a comparison is going to go over much better than your tirades and attacks.

I would seriously suggest you give the immature name calling style of posting a rest, and either offer up some decent information or go elsewhere.

Considering that you are banned and can not defend yourself, I'll just hope that you get the point.

I was not nor did I say that any rtr has the handeling and suspension necessary out of the box. When referring to that cen that I tried, I just stated that it was unsuitable to the track. When I take my cars racing, shocks are rebuilt and shock position is noted as well as taking it to the HUDY and Suspension board. Even at the track, adjustments are being made as well as shore ratings to keep it handeling correctly.

To say that your car handles like it's on rails is all heresay. Proof, via video footage, is necessary. Time slips and printouts would also help. Without these, your claims are nothing but wasted saliva. 710baby, team17, myself and a few others here actually do race and have race together. We have the video and printouts from where we do race. All said and done, proof is in the pudding.

Yo Dive don't waste your time defending yourself for this clown it ain't worth it. let him learn the hard way & I would like to see some proof for his login name roarchampion

I'm not too sure how long he was hear. hees not a usual to my knowledge but this just goes to show how ignorant some people can be. and to think its all happened over this guy simply wanting to know if the cen car was good for him or not.
