Monster BL setup

REPLY BY CASTLE

"Yes, it's true. The Monster is coming out...we're shooting for a March
release. We're waiting on the things that are out of our hands right
now. Motors, cases, boxes, manuals, etc. It'll be able to handle up to
6s lipo and 200A continuous. It'll also have our Castle BEC switching
regulator integrated into the controller so you'll be able to dial your

output voltage to your servo(s) to anything you want between 4.8v and
9v
in 0.1v increments. The motors we've licensed from Steve Neu (arguably
the best motors in the world). Total cost of the combo should be around

$300. "

Just the thing for something like a brushless savage. Judging by the numbers (6S and 200A continuous), that is going to live up to its' name.

I'm almost afraid to see the Kv rating on the motor it can handle.

I'm guesstimating the Kv rating should be somewhere in the 2200-2700 range or less to keep rpms in the 40-50K range with 6S. ~ 60K is the physical limit of these sizes of motors due to heat buildup. If he specs the motors from Neu they should be very efficient and very well made. $300 for a full set-up will be a bargain, my last Neu cost that much just for the motor. I'm excited to see this new system.

6S with higher Kv rating will more than likely cause it to overheat. Increasing cell voltage increases speed, not run time. Increasing capacity increases run time and current output.

I was going to convert my Revo over to brushless using the Gorillamaxx chassis and the Novak HV Maxx brushless setup.

Now I may wait and convert it using the Tekno conversion and use this set-up. The shaft will need to be 5mm though.

If it isn’t, then I may do the Tekno anyway and get help from the 2007 Electric Guru of the Year to select a good motor with a 5mm shaft and esc.
