why would you want cf side gaurds, first decent side hit you get and that would be the end of them pretty exspensive consumable item

I'm not being a smart ass be asking this.
Do you really think they're that breakable?

toptoptions seem to have the CF guards for 20quid, they say 7.5 but doesn't this mean that they will be 777 compatible?

I've emailed asking if they would work with the OS tunes silencer...

-Breakable? I doubt it, this is CF we are talking about arn't we? Of course depends on what 'kind' of hit. If the impulse/force of the impact is concentrated at one spot it would crack but if it's spread over a larger area it should only scuff it at most. one spot - think of say a screwdriver or something hitting it really hard, still doubt it'll do much...hrm.

I have a K3. so no problem here.
I guess 20 Quid is the same as 34.99
lol

I've seen them in the past.. They were made by a company called "Hot Products" I believe.. You had to drill your own mounting holes for the different biggies.. How well they fit to each manufacturers chassis, is another story.. They were not cheap, at around $80 a set. If there true CF, I can't see how there going to break through normal racing/bashing conditions... I'll keep trying to find them, but I think the company is out of business..

any carbon is breakable if it is in a high impact zone, carbon has high regidity but little tolerance for high impact, exsample would be the carbon body mounts we use on on roaders, they stop the body moving or flexing as much as the plastic mounts but donot stand up to the frontal impacts anywere near as much as the plastic
this exact thing cost me 4th in our recent nations, and earned me eight instead :(

CF is not good at taking hits....it is still brittle....and the weight savings have to be a joke right....I mean when you have a car w/ a power to weight ratio of like 10:1 isn't shaving a few grams being anal???....I thought it looked really cool on the buggy I saw....but these are sponsored drivers I saw sporting it......one of em anyway.....

Carbon is not as strong as you would think, remember that it is held together with resin, resin cannot take high impact, it shatters it doesnot just break, i will find a few bits for ya to prove it, it is designed to improve regedity and weight not to be an impact sheild, and by regidity i mean flex, which is why plastic does have its place on a buggy, How many bugies out there you see with carbon arms, after all a pro spec could come with them, but they dont, cause they break

Done!
You talked me out of it.
A few of my friends have it and it looks real nice.
Know one has broken any "YET".
I'll save the $90 that they spent, and put it towards more usefull things.
Thanks guys.

90 should buy ya a gallon/body/batt pack and glow plug...see all the other expendable booty you were gonna pass on just for the bling bling factor......LOL....I'd have to say wise choice man...save the froo froo crap for the sponsored guys......

We all have a moment of weakness now and then.
You guys helped me keep it real.
Real ordinary. Ha

And yes, I would agree with the fact that these are more breakable than the factory plastic guards, but I have sold these to people all over the world, and have not heard of anyone breaking them yet. (Vantage's new chassis for the Revo is made out of carbon)

Structured parts made from carbon parts must be vacuum formed. This process allows the excess resin to be "squeezed" from the carbon while curing. When a part is made mostly of resin, it becomes WAY too brittle- no matter what the reinforcement consists of.

I would like to know as well.
Also, are they pre drilled for specific buggies?

RatzoRC,
If you go to the RB Concepts Forums and look in the .21 engines thread you will find a guy that goes by the name of Mike the snake. He also makes the carbon fiber mud guards that you are looking for. He was talking about making a batch of them a while ago, but I did not follow up on whether he did or not. You might look him up and ask about them. He only makes them for the Kyosho MP 7.5.
