carbon fiber chassis

is a carbon fiber chassis a good idea? I was thinking about having one made.

yes! how much would it be to make one? carbon fiber is very very strong and should hold up very well.

I can get a 2x4 sheet for 85 dollars. Should be plenty to make more than 1 chassis and other parts that I might want. Only thing is that this is only .015" thick. I do not know if that will be thick enough. The place I am buying it from says that it should be plenty thick and strong enough for what I want to do with it. If its not thick enough, I can always double up the carbon to make it .030. I am sure that will be thick enough.

well my hockey sticks blade isnt about that thick and it has only broke once and its doesn't really dent or scratch.

graphite chassis

you need .125 "1/8" material make sure it is real graphite not fiberglass and do not just stack up .015 material its not the same. If you need graphite material e-mail me. good luck and look forward to seeing some pics of your car with a graphite chassis.

Yup your going to need a lot thicker then that, just my top desk I'm thinking of getting is 3.5mm and thats over 1/8 I believe? so for the chassis you would want something decent..
My Aluminium chassis is 3mm thick.

Oh yeah, also you will loose a lot of cooling!
Alloy chassis acts as a big heatsink to cool the engine (sucks heat from crank case)... You may have temp problems with carbon chassis?
