Welcome to the sickness, hehe. Glad to hear the savage is running great for ya. When the .21 wears out, keep in mind that you can fit a .32+ in there with no additional hardware needed.

Yea!!! then after I upgrade the motor I will probably blow up my rear end and have to upgrade that then it will drive so hard I will have to replace the shocks and towers, servos, radio, skid plates, tires. HAHA Will it ever end??? I can see how this could be an addiction. We will probably drive this truck pretty hard as my son races bmx, and we can't wait to get it out on the track and launch the s#$% out of it on those jumps. Should be a blast.

The Savvy .21 has a very weak differential design. Just make sure you guys let off the throttle before landing jumps. Don't set the brakes too tight either. If they can lock the wheels on a high traction surface, they are too tight.
The truck you have only has 2 bevel gears inside the plasttic diff cups.
All the newer ones have 4 bevel gear diffs inside aluminum diff cups. 10X stronger.
They' fit right into your truck no problem. I'd have some on standby if you plan to stay in the hobby.

i also found

a savage 21 at the thrift store brand new it never been fired or fuel i need to break it in and adjust the carb paid $30 it came with the hotshot 2

I just got the same truck, same problems wont start, no one mentioned what the factory needle settings were, anyone???

Needle settings - from the HPI 3.5 engine manual.
The HSN is factory set to 3 1/2 turns. After break-in, the needle can range from 2 1/2 to 3 turns from fully closed depending upon humidity, elevation, fuel and glow plug.

The LSN is factory set to 3 1/2 turns. After break-in, the needle can range from 2 1/2 to 3 turns from fully closed...

"The mid-range adjustment screw is pre-set from the factory to 3 1/4 turns from fully closed. It is recommended that you do not adjust the mid-range adjustment screw."
