I just got an older Rustler, probably 4-5 yrs old. Engine is a .15, don't know if it's a .15 pro.... The guy I got it from said it's been sitting for the past two years, but he'd put the after run oil in it before setting it on the shelf. I've spayed WD-40 into the carb, and down the glow plug hole, worked the throttle a bit and let it sit a while. I've replaced the fuel lines.

It has a priming button on the tank lid. When I primed it, it sent fuel to the the exhaust easier than it did to the carb, but it doesn't seem to pull fuel very easily. I switched the lines around with no difference, so I put them back. I ended up having to put my finger over the exhaust to get the fuel to the carb. When trying to get it started, I went through almost half a tank of fuel, most of which came out (practically pouring) of the exhaust. I had switched the lines around again a couple times in the process without much difference. I did eventually get it started, but not for long. I've checked the lines and lid for leaks, the lid may be part of the problem, but I think I have that fixed. The carb is only open about 1mm or so..

Any thoughts?

Screw it. I'm sending the engine back to Traxxas for the 2.5R. The guy that had it was running glowplugs that have idol bar on them...

I like the 2.5 engine. I haven't tried anything else but i am a beginner and found it easy to tune.

thats probably a good idea getting a new engine from traxxas via ERP. i have a 2.5R myself and its a great engine. enough power for bashing and plenty easy to tune

flander, make sure that if you've got a performance tune on it that it's getting traction. On my T-Maxx the stock tires aren't too good for getting traction in most places. The truck will pull wheelies all day long when it can hook up, but on most surfaces the chevron tires just spin. So your problem could be with tire spin rather than a tune, or with suspension settings.

with the stock spur and CB it wont wheelie. but when i put my resonator pipe and 40T spur and 14T CB it definetly wheelies like crazy
