I just got my rc10gt in the mail, (RTR plusversion) and I see there is a white little spacer thing in the carb, what is this far, I have never seen it, Do i take it out or what?

aj - the spacer u see is known as a carb restrictor. it is used to minimize the amount of air let into the carb, thereby slowing down the performance of the engine. it is there in order to prevent someone new to the hobby from letting a 40mph stadium truck get out of hand. i would suggest you leave it in until u feel comfortable with the trucks performance, then remove it. Removing it will give you a VERY noticable performance gain.

If you arnt new to this hobby, then feel free to remove it right away.

keep in mind that after you remove the restrictor, u will need to adjust your carb needle settings accordingly. make sure you richen them up quite a bit, as all that extra air coming in is gonna lean the hell out of the engine.

Will this hender my perfromance greatly, I mean it take up more than half the carb, I want to take it out but i want to make sure I can handle the truck well (its my 2nd RC, first was a duratrax, this so is so much nicer!)

Half a carb opening is already a considerable amount of power.
I'd say, just try it out... see how you like it and if its just not enough power yet to brake the a-arms on a curb you can just simply take it out since the carb does not get very hot.

Hey AJ, As NitroAddict pointed out, its generally a good idea to leave the restrictor in the carb if you feel comfortable enought to handle driving a VERY fast nitro RC. If your not sure if you can, or just want to be safe then leave the restrictor in at first. As you become more comfortable diving the RC10gt you can take the restrictor out. BUT and this is a very big BUT...... you MUST set your needles back to almost factory and retune your engine. If you dont you will more likely than not cause some serious wear and tear on your engine if not break it completely.

There is no harm in taking it out now just be gentle with the throttle unitl you get comfortable with the new ride.

Good luck and congrats. The rc10gt is a NICE ride.

aj - leave it in for the time being, the engine that comes with that truck (i know, i had one) is alot more powerful than the one that comes with the duratrax. Break in the engine, and get everything how u like it. after break in is done, and u want more power, then remove it. with the restrictor in, u will see about the same power output as the duratrax engine.

one more question....what am I suppose to use to hold the battery pak to the back of the car

NM you cable tie it in see now

zip ties. u will see 4 slots in the tray in which to pull them through, this will secure the pack nicely. make sure u wrap the AA batteries with some electrical tape, so that they dont bounce out of the holder. i strongly recommend a rechargable 5cell hump pack.

one more question how do you prime the fuel on this thing]
\

congrats - u have now advanced past the horrible invention known as the primer tank.

to prime the RC10GT, the easiest way is to hold your finger over the exhaust outlet, and pull the pullstarter once. u will see the fuel rapidly flow to the carb

LOL, thanks for all your help, guys, I am currently douing the heat cycle break on, on the 2nd 40 sec run its cooling again.

Schweet :) You're doing good.

Question I am on cycle 8 now and this things compression is getting harder and harder to pull is this number?

normal

Actually, it should get a little easier to pull as you break it in. Not a lot, but a little. Hmmm.

And to go around on the restrictor again, leaving it in or taking it out is up to you. But remember that it can have value. To say that RC's are overpowered is an understatement. If you're going to race, it can help you to contain the power of the engine so it's harder to break traction. Can help you get around the track faster. It might not be faster in the big straight, but will be easier to take through the twisty sections. And always remember, slow is fast....

Well I decided to take it out, I decided that I could better tune an engine with the view of the norm carb hole. I ran about 9 tanks through my car today, following prpoer break in procedure et. By the time it got dark I was comfortable to open it up a bit, I was able to keep the engine running about 210- max 230 this truck is great. Great speed great handling, I love it. Tommarow its off to the track to get a better feel for it on some real turf, today was mostly concret and a little grass. BTW that heat cycle break in is awsome, car starts great, runs great idles forever, I am amazed how much more fun you can have with this hobby when you get good RC, all you hobby stores stop selling that crap that frustrates people, its bad for the hobby

New Happy RC10GT owner!
