Carb pushing air to the fuel tank?

well at the moment it has a brand new duratrax header and tuned pipe on it, one that i only used one time on another truck, and wouldnt think that the chamber on it would be to big since i had used it on a traxxas pro 15 and i put it on this o.s 18

Just giving credit where credit is due, as are you. Gotta get outta here and go see my kids...

Just razzin ya man. :hehe: Wasn't trying to be pushy.

This thread's been fun. I like a challenge. (probably why I dig nitro buggies so much)

Well if that turns out to be a non-issue then do check that carb and make sure it is seated properly and not sucking in air.

Good luck, and keep us posted? Gotta go...

Has anyone took the engine apart? The piston could be in backwards.

No the exhaust side of the piston is different than the intake side on most engines. It would stop it from sucking in fuel.

no havent went as far as to tear the engine down yet, think i just might try a new carb since i have went through this one so many times and may just be overlooking something! ok going to the LHS to buy new carb

Ok got new carb pu it on and guess what same thing... ok now remember that this engine is only supposed to have 1/2 gal ran through it.. so i tear it down take the cooling head off and first thing i see is a couple of scratches in the sleeve.... and a lil rust in them. ok took back plate off and nothing but rust.. ok so i guess the guy didnt know what after run oil was and didnt empty the engine of all the nitro or even empty the tank........and so now i know why it was on ebay... but only paid 75 for it but thats 75 down the drain but at least i got extra clutch parts and a new carb!!

I'd say check both carb and exhaust. it is feasable i suppose on an older exhaust to be gummed up to the point of over pressuring..probably not the case with a barely run pipe. Even if it's the wrong pipe, I can't forsee enough of a difference to totally backfeed the system unless there is some sort of blockage, not inherent to the pipes design. It may not tune to peak capabilty, but shouldn't stop it from starting altogether...

I'm glad you hopefully found your problem?? too bad it's going to cost you a motor.

Scratches in the sleeve, that'll do it. I'd contact the seller, rust and scratches is unacceptable.
