Carb problems

I recently got my friends old Rustler for my roommate and we got it running and everything. But his carb is screwed up. You can actually take the throttle arm and rotate it 360 degrees within the carb.

Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening and how to fix this?

It's the old carb that came with the Pro .15. (I get confused as to which, the Pro .15 and the 2.5, are called)

The idle set screw is either gone or damaged. The idle set screw has a tip that rides in a groove on the carb barrel. If that screw is gone or damaged, then the carb barrel can rotate freely through 360 degrees of motion.

That is one possibility. The other is that the throttle arm has come loose from the carb barrel. So, the real question is does the throttle arm move on the barrel or does the whole carb barrel move through the 360+ degrees with the throttle arm.

If the answer is the barrel moves, then the idle set screw might be the culprit. If the barrel doesn't follow the throttle, then the problem is the screw holding the throttle arm in place.

So, the real question is does the throttle arm move on the barrel or does the whole carb barrel move through the 360+ degrees with the throttle arm.

Exactly. Does the black piece of plastic (linkage arm) spin and NOT turn the carb barrel... or does the barrel just spin freely with the arm? I have a feeling it's the arm that is spinning around and it's not moving the carb barrel with it. In which case, there is a thin nut that actually threads around the area where the LSN needle is... put the linkage where you want it with the carb closed down to the idle screw and tighten that thing down as hard as you can. A friend of mine has a stadium truck that does that crap ALL of the time. It sucks, but once you get it real good, it shouldn't happen again.

Well, I got the carb working but my Maxx is having some more problems. It's that damn shifting problem crap again. I'm going to replace my clutch and shift hub now...
