Carb Help Fast

Hey.
on the savage 4.6 i was running it and it stopped. the carb had came off... How do i put it in.. Like i tried shoving it in bu doesn't wanna go in.. I loosed the screw for the clamp and tried shoving it in again but doesn't wanna go in the whole way....
What do i do? HELP FAST..

you shouldn't have to cram it. Read your instruction manual and make sure that you are loosening the right screw. It should slide in with very little force I believe. Especially if it just fell out. I've never heard of the carb falling off, you should probably do some routine maintenance and make sure all the other screws are tight.

best thing you can do is post pictures of the carb and the engine where the carb goes into the engine

this will show us any damage if there is any and we will be able to help you more with more details from the pictures

alrighty I'm not home now but will definetly do i when iget gome.. Thanks guys

The screw pulls on a rod with an arc machined in it. You need to look into the carb sleeve and line up the arc till you see only a round opening. The carb should slip right in. Tightening it up puts pressure from that arc to the neck of the carb, holding it in place.
Once you drop in the carb, press VERY firmly on the top of the carb intake to compress the O-ring while you tighten the clamp.

Carb Pics

OK HERES THE PICS.. Ya i fliped first then i drove it for lil more and then it stopped then thats when i noticed...
So As you were saying Rolex so i guess i gotta take off the thorttle arm first? Then i turn around the carb until it slides in. Then i can twist it to the other side?
Alrighty Thanks guys.. I know I'm a pain but lol i really need the help!! I ralyl appreciate ur responses!

Well, I'm guessing that's what's there, since it seems to be the most common way of securing carbs. I've never had my Savage engine apart, but the Tmaxx's were like that.
Disconnect the carb linkage and remove it completely, then look down inside the block and line up the arc till you don't see anything but a perfectly round opening. The carb should slide right in.

EDIT: The clamp appears to be in the rear, according to your pic. You might not need to disconnect the linkage unless it makes it tough to align.
Loosen the clamp screw and make sure that no part of the clamp is in the way, then slide it in. You might need to wiggle the screw till it lines up correctly, but that's the only thing stopping the carb from going back in.

Another EDIT: It's defined as a carb lock pin, but it's only shown from the back side in this view.

Cracked carb.. That covered under warrenty? Just got this rig last week.. If IT IS REALYL CRACKED! Hope not.....

I re-read your first post, and since it sounds like it goes part way, but not all the way in, that tells me you're more than likely running into the pin. Sometimes the will tend to 'roll' just enough to lock the neck and keep it from going in farther, that's why you need to make sure it doesn't move as you slide the carb in. Once you reach the pin, turning the carb slightly from side to side as you ease it down will keep it from locking.

Ok here is a better picture of what the problem is. Let me know.. Do u guys think ill have to replace this carb? Also how much do they usually go for? I called HPI and they said that its not under warrenty:bandit:
Anyway. plz reply back with wat i should do..

oh yea, I would defintely replace the carb body. Did it overheat really bad or get chewed up by the gears when it came off? Either way, I wouldn't put that in my engine. Carb bodies are fairly cheap anyway. While you're replacing the carb body, you will be able to step up to the 8.5 mm carb restrictor from the SS, or you can go with the 8 mm restrictor if you don't want to go to 8.5. Stock on the Savage X is 7.5, and I don't know why you wouldn't want to step up to the 8.5 that's on the SS, it works great for me. Here's a link to the carb body.

ya thats odd looking.. it almost looks like it got chewed up.. i would not put that back in. i small peice of that coming in could scratch the piston pretty good..

Is that actual damage to the metal on the carb throat or is it melted 0-ring? I can't tell. If it's the o-ring only, that can be replaced. But if that's physical damage to the metal, you'll definitely be better off replacing it. Check e-bay and such. Sometimes you can find a dead engine someone is selling for parts.

That's not composite, that's metal and THAT's the reason it won't go back in. If it took a whack hard enough to do that, then you can be sure it's also out of round. Don't put that back in the engine. You need a new one.

I went ahead and merged your 2 threads on this matter.

Hey guys.. Ok i brought it o my Hobby Shop adn he put it back in for me. He said dint nedea replace. We put it in and tighten it.. Guess what! Poped right out AGAIN! are we not putting it in right? Like how does it go on? He just put it in and then twisted back and forth till it went in the whole way.. Still came out again tho.. Not sure wat to do now.....

Hey nitro rc basher.. Its where the roll bar goes in....
