carb air leak?

Hi guys, today I pulled the carb. off because I thought I might have an air leak. Since I've never done this before this is what I did to look for the leak. After I took the carb. off I put a small piece of fuel line on just like normal.Then I put one finger on the top and another on the bottom and then placed the whole carb. in a bowl of water and gently blew in the fuel line, sure enough there was a small leak in the lsn and under the rubber dust protector in the slide valve. I had a new spare lsn but how do I stop the small leak in the slide valve? Or is there nothing I can do to fix it because there are no "o" rings to replace? As usual thanks for your time in helping me out!!

Try applying a thin coating of grease. I found that it helped alot.

I had the same problem and also put a thin coat of grease under the dust protector, but I think that there is no leak, I think that is the normal way that the air goes into the carb....my real problem was the primer button on the tank; I change the tank for a new one and all my problems ends.....

Sorry xmontalvoa but that is not normal the only way air should enter the engine is down the throat of the carb, any other way is a leak.
