i dont really want to upgrade it too much. What forum should i be on?

You see, that's the problem with getting into RC. Once you start, you want to upgrade. If you break something, you replace it, you break it again, then you look for a better part. That's only the beginning.

If you want an electric on-road, look at the HPI Sprint 2 Flux, Sprint 2 Sport, or the Sprint 2 Drift. At least with those you have the option to upgrade parts and electronics.

have heard good things about the "Tamiya TT-01". Are they any good, can you upgrade them?
 
Pretty much anything Tamiya is good, but I'm not really familiar with them, or their upgrade options.

Also, being that you're Aussie, you may want to look at what is locally available too.
 
Alright, so you stick more with the one brand the a broad range. Guess thats a pretty good way of getting to know a larger variety of cars then one from each company.
