can't make up my mind!

So i amtrying to choose between the savage 4.6 x or the 5.9,xl... i want to bash and i like the chassis of the 5.9... some people say the 5.9 has problems. And others say its a good motor just seal it and tune it good... idk what to do....do you think it would be good to get the 5.9 and bash it till the motor quits or see if i like it and if anything hppens just put a aftermarket motor in? Thanks for reading. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I would go the xl route because you get the three speed tranny with it. Yes the 5.9 is a pita to get dialed in but after you get it sealed, its been good to me. Hope this helps, Steve.

After sealing the engine it has been great... I can take it out in any temp and do a quick tune if the temp has changed drastically and she runs like a top. Before sealing it was a real PITA to get a tune

The K5.9 runs a lot better if you run the cen 7.7 pipe also, my buddy runs that pipe on his truck and it dropped the running temps like 20 degree's, and it had a whole lot more power. Think he tried about every pipe out said that one worked the best.

My 5.9 was a pain until I got it figured out. I sealed it up and now run it on 30% nitro with a medium plug versus the 20% and hot plug I was running. Changing fuel and plugs made a huge difference in temps and made the engine much easier to tune.

i got the 5.9 with the Cen pipe. i sealed the engine and shortened both fuel and pressure pipe to reduce mid tank lean and its pretty cool. i have just swapped out my second engine for an LRP zr.32. I've not run it yet but felt like a change. there are a couple of poor quality vids taken off my phone on the attached. the gearbox needed tuning and i am no expert on the engine but it done us. i like the stability you get with the xl, i also run the OS 8 plug

Ok thanks for the info! Where is the best place to buy that pipe?

And ill run the 30% nitro then.. is there a brand that works best for the savage?
