hey there. I'm hoping someone can help me.
My revo won't start easily. reading the posts I figured its the 1 way bearing which need to be cleaned.

can't get to it :(

I'm supposed to take the EZ-starter apart, but the plastic frame (supporting left axel) prevents me from taking the ez starter off.

Any tips how to get to the 1 way bearing as easily as possible?

edit: got it!

It can be done. You have to move the a-arms and get a longer wrench through there, but it does come off without taking it all apart. Ditch the EZ Start and go with an alternative starting system. The TigerDrive system is really nice. I just put a pull start on mine and have no real complaints. Another good thing to do with the EZ Start is ditch the blue wire and just get a glow plug igniter and use it instead of the blue wire.

personally i say put a pull start on it. lets you get a better feel for the engine and it should only take 3-4 pulls to start the engine.

whats the starting problem?

the starting problem is that the one way bearing is slipping. got the ez starter off and cleaned owb in denaturated alcohol, and oiled with 2 drops of after run oil.
problem solved. even a cold engine was properly turned by the ez. no slip.
the problem emerged again after 1 hour of runtime.

now I'm gonna try clean and add no oil. Hoping that it will last a bit longer this way.

If not new owb and rod may be included in my next order.

Don't oil it. Clean the bearing and the shaft with DA and button it up again. I've never oiled them after replacing them, and they usually ran for a couple of gallons before needing another cleaning.

i had the same problem when i had to replace the starter motor and the easiest way i have figured out is to take the engine assembly off of the chassis. . .it may not be the correct way or the fastest way to do it but it was the easiest way i have found

Mine came right off. I just pulled it yesterday B/C I am getting a rotostart 2 for mine on friday. I disconnected the pushrod and shock from the rocker to allow the suspension t droop all the way down and it came off then with ease.

I use to oil them until this guy with a pimped out Savage set me straight and I haven't had a problem since:first_place:

The easiest way to start my Revo Plat is a bumb box!!!!:D None of issues with the owb or pull starts breaking or easy start failure!! But I am still using a pull start on my nitro Rustler, and I never oiled my owb just the engine components when I reassembled it after cleaning!!!;)
