can't get the bearing shield off for the life of me

whats a good way to go about this me front bearings need a good cleaning/lubing and I've been trying with a hobby knife but its not working.

Assuming you have the hex nut off already. What I use is a needle nose pliers. Put em in the hole, open up and pull.

Domination, you might want to consider replacing the stock traxxas bearings with some sealed bearings. But to remove the shield there is a thin snap ring around the outer edge of the bearing, if you look real close you will see a tiny space where the two ends of the ring almost meet, take a good sharp exacto knife and stick it under the ring close to the space, from the outer edge push it in towards the center of the bearing, then lift up, it should pop right out.

You could also use an RPM bearing blaster, they are about $10 at your lhs.

My bad, I missed the shield part. Thought he just couldnt get the bearing out of the knuckle.

LOL, They can be a real pain in the ass to get out, you have to get close to where the gap in the ring is. If you try from the middle you will never get it out.
