I have at least 4 friends with the exact same frequency as me (27.045) and wanted to get a couple different crystals, Can anyone tell me how the different channels work because I know there are 2 ways the measure, 1, 2, 3, ect and 27.045 and 27.195. Any extra info on the subject anyone would like to add would also be appreciated. Thanks

PS:Is the TQ3 AM or FM? I think its AM

The numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, etc) along with the colors are kind of arbirary. The frequency (27.045 Mhz) isn't. The colors and numbers go along with the frequencies, so any yellow Xtal will be on the same frequency as another yellow Xtal.

The TQ3 is AM on the 27 MHz band. In that band, the FCC has set aside 6 frequencies that can be used.

Ch1 26.995 MHz---Brown
Ch2 27.045 MHz---Red
Ch3 27.095 MHz---Orange
Ch4 27.145 MHz---Yellow
Ch5 27.195 MHz---Green
Ch6 27.255 MHz---Blue

Each specific frequency has a specific color associated with it. So, you can't run your RC on the same frequency as your friend's because if you do, you'll be sending control signals to both cars. And that's not good. Because then they'll all get screwy. You all need to be on different frequencies to work right.

You can buy replacement reciever and transmitter crystals to give yourself some options. Usually, they recommend that you use crystals that are close to the original frequency because they tend to tune the rx and tx to perform optimally at that frequency and if you stray too far from it, you can compromise performance. Since you are on RED (27.045), I would recommend picking up crystal sets in Brown and Orange to give yourself some options.

Thanks I never knew that about not going to far from the original crystal.
