My 8 year old DV camcorder finally bit the dust. So I was looking at replacing it with a one of the new hard drive cameras. I hated dealing with the tapes anyway. I can get one on sale right now with a 60gb hard drive for $349 out the door. It is a JVC GZ-MG630SU. Does anyone have any experiance with one of these? I have been looking around and there seems to be very little feedback on this camera anywhere......any advise? Thanks!

Is it really new or something? I've always like JVC producs in general. We have a Sony HDD camera we bought a couple years ago. Aside from the menus not being very intuitive it's a nice piece.

I think it is pretty new. Been out for a few months anyway. Not sure really. My old one was a JVC and it did pretty well. Lasted 8 years and in today's world that is not bad.

I have the 60gb HDD JVC camcorder, love it pictures are very clean and vid's are awesome very easy to use, and it will hold alot of vid's on the hard drive. We filmed the entire Army basic training graduation ceremony and didnt take up any hard drive space

Yeah, 60 GB is a lot. My Sony has a 30 GB drive and it'll do 7 hours of high quality HD. one thing I really like about our Sony is the surround sound recording.

My brother has the JVC 60GB, but I'm not sure if it's the same model. Anyways, it's a great camcorder. Has lots of functions for settings and even has protection stuff like auto-shutoff if you drop it.
