i am getting a slighly used savage x soon:jittery:. I have a brand new os .30 for it and some big joes on mambos. i also have a mx3 radio, and a hitech 645 servo for steering. i have a reverse modual and servo for that. the truck has the dual disk brake setup as well.

Now my question is, what mandatory upgrades are needed on the truck?

I'm getting a hump pack, and the linkage mod (whichever is the best please post up part numbers!)

i will be bashing only, so the truck needs to be tough.

i was thinking center skid, maby tank guard.

does the new one have the half tank lean problem?

any other ideas post them up!!

ill be getting a sweet body as well, but thats later.

ill post pics of the beast when i get it done.

mr will?? i dont think so... I'm trading with a guy on another forum.

Must UPRGRADES:

Dualdisk brakes

THrottle linkage upgrade

Hump pack

Steering servo

others:

Wheelie bar

3 speed

switch with charge jack

I will get pics today after running!!!

i have the power adapter for the hump pack if you want it let me know ill let it go for like 8$ shipped

:D

wow, gee thanks nc!!! i know about the search button, and have used it on MANY occasions. BUT I'm looking for more specific info.

i already have, or am getting the main upgrades, the ones normaly listed in a "what upgrades" listing.

I'm looking for other stuff. stuff that people whome own the rig have found our first hand. people that have a simular setup to me, and may have advice for my setup.

SO...

all I've seen so far is a wheelie bar, 3 speed, and charge jack (hope to get a hump with a built in one.)

i guess i have it all covered.

thanks for the help jon

dont forget all around bearings if you havent upgraded to that or it doesn't have them allready. my savage 25 had wheel bearings allready but had plastic bushings in the steering part that looks sort of like a short fat shock underneath the battery box. also to help with engine cooling i replaced the solid alluminum flywheel with a fan type flywheel.

if you get the X it should have rubber sealed ball bearings already... Try to get the 3 speed kit to retain the X trany case. The only other things I could suggest is that the Steering assembly DO NOT have bearings but plastic bushings. Get a set. I tested the X cage and I peronaly do not like it so the RCS cage will be on it soon. I land upside down from a 10 foot jump and it actually pushed my inner fins down. I remember doing bigger jumps with my old S25 RTR and landed with the RCS cage and had ZERO damage.

thanks jon for the info. do you have a size on the steering bearings? the x comes with the cam style saver right? i plan on running an .060 proline body, those things are like a roll cage in itself!!

i am seriously thinking about the 3 speed. then i could run 18/47 and still have killer take off!

jon: pm sent

busted: I'm running those mambos and 14mm hexes. not the 17mm

I've been reading allot over at Savage central and those guys are saying that the X's TVP's are cracking right where the X logo is on the chassis. I don't have an X so I can't verify this but it's something to keep an eye on. Also with the O.S. .30 you will kill those stock hexes almost immediately. I like the Proline 23mm setup myself and have had zero problems with it on my Savage. It's also about $22 cheaper to go with the Proline setup over the Nubz conversion and you can keep your Big Joes. Shim your diffs too. If you want a tank guard get either tha Adrenaline or the Vertigo Performance one. These two are held onto the chassis with three screws while most others use only two. I can personally vouch for the Adrenaline one though. This thing is tough!!!Other than those few things it sounds like you've got it under control.

really? the x tvps crack? ill have to watch that. I've heard of people doubling them up.

what are the best 14mm hexes? i had some of those t-6 aluminum ones with the small rubber rings that hold the pins in. they held up nicely and fit the hexes tight, but i was running alum rims at the time.

I'm gonna tear down the diffs and shim and fill them.

you got a link to the tank guard?

It's not the hex's themselves you have to worry about. It's the plastic rims that strip out.Yours didn't because they were aluminum. I stripped out my 40 series Velocities with the stock 21bb my Savage21 came with so I can only imagine what an O.S. 30 will do. I can't seem to find the Adrenaline guard anymore. I remember it being difficult to get when I bought it too but heres a link to Vertigo's site. http://www.vertigoperformance.com/products/savage/4005.html

grab the rpm center skidplate
can't go wrong for $15

read up on savage-central.com TONS of info thhere
