hello all,, i just got the savage xl and broke it in with traxxas top fuel 20% ran through whole gallon and it was running great ,, temps were around 220-230.
so i switched to byron 20% rtr 16% lube my lhs said it would be better ?? now it runs for a couple mins and starts to idle high and temps go to 250 ?/ i richend the hsn and doesn't seem to make a difference ,,still runs to hot ??
thanks in advance,,

Thats what i run in my mgt and it works great but i would take the truck and all to your lhs and ask them.

i have been running byrons 20% in my savage 25 from day one and have not had a problem. i have over 15 gallons thru this motor and has never been replaced and its still going.i keep it rich and it runs and runs and runs.

Have you messed with anything else on the truck? Exhaust, tank, ect..? Does it run good, but get hot while idling? Maybe the lsn is a bit lean... A little more info would help us nail this down better.:)

thanks,, i set the hsn to factory settings ,and tuned from there,, and it seems to be doing fine now ?? it must have been to lean, but the byron fuel said it would run rich,,so i dont know what happend,,so far i love the xl,its bad ass,, but i keep hearing bad things about the k 5.9 engine, i just hope it last for a while ??
thanks again everyone,,,

If it's running well, you should get some life out of it. Just be sure to set the piston to bdc immediately after killing the engine to prolong the pinch.
