I am about to buy a Savage SS, but i don't know if I should buy som hopup parts and install them from the start.
I am willing to spend an extra $200 on extra parts.
Whitch is the Savages weakest parts? And whitch kind of part should i upgrade?

I am going to use the Savage just for fun.

Best regards Kim

I am going to do the exact same thing.

The parts I am going to put on during the build are a 3 shoe clutch, savage 25 fuel tank, dual disk brake kit, Lunsford titanium linkage upgrade kit, and threaded alum shocks. Just around $250 worth of parts.

Thanks guys for the input, but i got more questions.

The dual disk seems like a good idea, i have seen a movie with the savage and dual disk brakes, and that did stop on the spot.

Whats more imortant? New arms or new shocks. If shocks, do i need to install new towers?
What about skid plates, are the standart one any good to go bashing?

Is the revers module any good, do i need it to go bashing?

IMO, the SS weakest link is its front pick-up fuel tank with primer. From what I have read, primer has a tendancy to leak and the front pick-up design is just plain no good. The savage 25's tank fixes these problems for only $13.

I don't see any problem with the stock arms so I would go with the shocks. You do not need any new towers.

If you need to go in reverse, then get the module. I guess it works fine, but you will need another servo. As I have read here before, MT's are made to go over stuff, not back away from them.

Naldur as with any kit from HPI one of the weakest links seems to be the stock air filter, I can't believe no one has turned you onto this yet. I would suggest a Motor Saver air filter
Honestly you will be happy you bought one. Also some things to think about would be the steering upgrade as the stock steering situation isn't the greatest it will not turn the tires unless the truck is moving. I picked up a set of bearings I just got two sets and put them in. Works so much better. You may also look at a kimbrough servo saver, between the bearings and the servo saver this should pretty much clear up the slop in the steering short of getting a new servo. I would also take a good look at some fuel filters as well. Those upgrades i have suggested will not break the bank and you should still have plenty of money left over to get some shocks and whatever. There are plenty of other mods to be done however those were my first ones. Later

If your going to get the SS version this is my OPINION on what you should do.Since the truck is already apart you can easily do this stuff while your building it.You don't have to do any of this stuff to have fun with the truck but some of it is needed and some of it is not. Here is a list of aditional parts to get!

MotorSavers Filter http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVJ2&P=7

Throttle/Brake Mod: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBM06&P=7

3 Shoe clutch: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNJ82&P=7

Fual Tank mod: http://www.neweramodels.com/cgi-bin...vhdysjdhiboxbrecqaswmllunmpraity&part_id=1704

and you'll need 2 of these to complete the steering and throttle/barke mods: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBVS8&P=M

I would also add a set of rims and tires to this list.I stripped out a few sets before I got the OutBack Weld 40 series and the Savage-Central Adapters.Since then I haven't stripped a wheel.
