Why the dealers support traxxas. They say its people that don't have any LHS

Now that Ed spoke up I guess I will throw in my TWO cents. I think this is TRX capitalizing again. Think about this Mayhem every part that gets bought from TRX instead of a lhs or online hobby shop thats more money in TRX Pocket LOTS MORE. They sell parts cheap to dealers and the dealers live off the markup. Not only is trx making the profit they would from selling a parts to a dealer everything on top of that is all going to money in the BLACK.

I realize this may look like TRX doing something for the people but trust me its about making money ....lots of money. Selling Direct to the public at Full retail prices they are going to increase there income greatly. X

It's a crappy situation all the way around. Traxxas sells to their dealers for 40% off list. Most hobby shops can't get list thanks to the internet, so they are making maybe 20-30% tops on this stuff. Now add in the cost of rent for a store, electric, stock, insurance, etc. This is the reason local hobby shops are becoming extinct. Traxxas selling at full list serves one good purpose. Yes it does not hurt their bottom line, but it may try to pursuade a customer to buy from their lhs. I have no hobby shop within 45-50 miles one way from my house. This is a pain in the butt, so I rely on on-line purchases. Even the shipping costs are now less than what it will cost me in gas, with gas prices rising every day, and to drive two hours round trip to get some parts for my RCs. If I had a hobby shop near me I would use it whenever possible. So even though Traxxas will profit from selling direct, it will help customers without access to parts as well. Just my 2 cents...

This is just one more small step closer to the demise of small business. If every manufacturer went direct to the public there would be no need for about 80% of the the jobs in the world.

Everyone would work for a Manufacturer or UPS.

SUPPORT YOUR LHS
and any other local business that keeps your money in your local community.

I agree with you Eddy, like I said if I had a local hobby shop I would gladly support them. I always try to go with the local hometown guy for whatever I can, whenever I can.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Seems they are aligning there buisness management politics, with there web site politics, "ME ME ME".

From the BuyTraxxas.com website:
Isn?t Traxxas competing against my local hobby shop for their parts sales?
Absolutely not! For over 16 years, Traxxas has offered sales of parts by phone for those customers who do not have the benefit of a local hobby shop to service their needs. BuyTraxxas.com is designed to compliment the entire parts support system for Traxxas products. Its purpose is to meet the needs of consumers that have shifted or compressed time schedules, live in remote areas, or customers who are not able to call us during normal business hours. Consumers who can be serviced by a local hobby shop are encouraged to purchase their parts from their local dealer. BuyTraxxas.com charges full retail price for all parts, plus shipping and handling charges. Standard delivery time is approximately 2-weeks. Next Day Air is a minimum of $25.00 U.S. Buying from your local shop puts the parts in your hand immediately (same day service!) with no extra shipping charges. If you have a hobby shop nearby, we ask that you support them. This helps to assure that they'll be there to support you in the future!

Do I believe in supporting my LHS? In most cases, yes. That is the first place I go when I need stock parts or small items. Will I pay an extra $50 or $75 on a big ticket item just to support the LHS? Nope, I have to support me first.

I don't believe what Traxxas is doing will hurt the LHS to any great extent, if any at all. It will hurt the LHS much less than the large online stores that sell at below retail prices with discounted shipping.

Is Traxxas trying to make money? Hell yes. Aren't you? I don't think that their business practices are unethical. I view what Traxxas is doing as great customer service.

I was out at RPM's Site here is what they say about this their distribution
RPM is affiliated with all of the major distributors in the U.S., as well as many international distributors throughout the world including England, Brazil, Germany, Australia, Japan, and South Africa to name a few. Because of our expansive distribution network, acquiring RPM products is quite simple. Therefore, we do not sell directly to the consumer. Instead, we choose to support the local hobby shops by making our products available through their distributors. By purchasing through your local hobby shop, you get the best local information as well as person-to-person technical support. If a local hobby shop is not available, then we recommend trying any of the available mail order facilities. Either way, RPM stocks all of our products in-house and we rarely ever back-order product. Every part and tool listed on our web site and in our catalog is currently available and in stock!

What I especially likeed was two diffrent comments they make

first If a local hobby shop is not available, then we recommend trying any of the available mail order facilities.
Second and my favorite is this statement

RPM stocks all of our products in-house and we rarely ever back-order product. Every part and tool listed on our web site and in our catalog is currently available and in stock!

That is what I am talking HAVING YOUR STUFF IN STOCK.

Dont realese a product till you are ready to support the demand. Exmaple T-Maxx 2.5 or 2.5 engine is a great example also all the new vehicles with 2.5 they have all been late this is because TRX does not deal with their suppliers very well in my opion or they are to concerned with the bottom line and they may not want to pay and extra .03 cents a part to have the stuff when they need it. They always have poop that is out of stock on back order ALWAYS and its always poop you need. Like Spur gear pegs for a MONTH last summer no one had any... So big deal I can call TRX and they say "Oh you can order it from us, oh wait that is if we had any" Thats major bullshit in my opion... TRX is about the money nothing else. There perception about good service is the walmart aproach.. that is crap... They will just replace something if you complain about it. So thats good service? Is having OQ and HW as two of your represenatives to the R/C community good service? I think not... Hell the got rid of nitro tackle box because he ran non-trx stuff. They don't want people that know alot about our hobby, they just want little clones. What a crock of poo. TRX needs to try keeping a deadline instead of lying time after time after time about release dates. They don't release poop on time. NOTHING...and their service is poop IF YOU ASK ME... I am talking about the whole big picture this includes any channle for service including forums...X

wow X that was really deep.... So i take it that you dont like trx??

I do agree that them not haveing stuff in stock is poop!! I wish like hell that they would hurry the f-ck up and bring out some killer mods and pipes for the 2.5:sneaky:
