theres this guy around the corner with a baja 5b for sale, it' basically stk, decent shape and still tight. the only thing that got me wondering is the fact that he burns 2 stroke oil mixed with naphtha camp fuel. did anyone hear of this? wouldnt that be a very dry ignition (lean)? he claims it's so clean he can run it indoors but i wouldnt advise it. so what do you think ? :redbuggy: ohh, what would be the aprox. price for a used 5b in decent shape?

the fuel is perfectly fine. its very common in large scale boats. its only about 50 octane and has very little smell. good for working on the rig in-house.. its common to here guys running race blend 110 octane, but these little low compression motors dont need that. sometimes i "think" i would see alittle performance boost from running reg fuel, but its really hard to tell.. its also about $8.00 a gallon.. as far as price. with out pics i couldnt tell ya. it could go anywhere from $450 to $700.

thanks

tks, was just curious about using naphtha, it seemed odd thats all. he was asking $900. canadian for it,but at that price i'd be better of bying new i think. i just wish hpi made the 5t a 4wd.

$900 isn't a very good deal you can get a new rtr for that HERE and you can get a ss HERE for $860 and you get the enjoyment of putting it together...ya ya i no you said $900 canadian but how much will you really save i would just buy new

Just thought i'd say, just because you can't smell the exhaust fumes doesn't mean they aren't there. It's still burning fuel, and gasses are still produced, and they have to go somewhere.

ya, alot of guy run whitegas. its actually more pure than rugular gas, has less additives in it and burns cleaner from my understanding.

mix it the same, but DONT STORE IN A METAL CAN, you must store in a plastic gas can once its been mixed. something about mixing it with oil and storing in metal can, will allow the oil to seperate out of the naptha. strange but keep it in plastic.

napth also has a lower octain ration 55 compared to 89 of normal unleaded. so its flash point is lower, this can lead to Disealing (run on) if your running hot (too lean or if the motor happens to heat soak on you.

other than than it runs very well, clean, and alot of people have used it for a long time.
