I know some of you have done a 4 buggy shock set up on their maxx. I'm wondering what shocks you used and what would happen if I used 8

Well, rear buggy shocks are too long. I used UE's supermaxx shocks and they were a hair too long as well. I think OFNA 9.5 front shocks would be pretty close.

Running 8 would be far too stiff. I tried running 8 rear OFNA 9.5 shocks on my savage. With the holes in the pistons drilled out a bit and running 20 weight oil, it was still too stiff. Maybe if I bought some softer springs and drilled the holes out a bit more it may have been better.

Looked cool though. Wouldn't bottom out with 8+ feet of air under it. But man was it bouncy on the rough stuff.

thats what i want cause when it gets warm here ill be jumping mine over 10 ft

for a 4 shock set up you can run just about any ofna rear buggy shock, UE supermaxx shocks. but you will need to also run a taller shock tower such as the UE knuckelhead. running 4 shocks gives you a lot more tuning options for you shocks due to them being thereaed. i personaley wouldnot run my maxx any other way now. i am curntley running 4 UE supermaxx shcoks with knuckelhead towers UE black springs in the back and blues in the front i forget what WT oil's tho. also do a search i know this has come up alot so search it and you should find lots of info on it.

These are the measurements:

Ofna rears - 130mm
Ofna fronts - 110mm
UE - 123mm
Big bores - 108mm

From left to right: Traxxas big Bores, Ofna front, UE supershocks. Not pictures are the ofna rears.

Traxxas big bores (left)- 108mm
Ofna buggy front (including ravager) (center) - 110mm
UE supershocks (right) - 123mm

All measurements were taken between center of mounting holes. UE supershock length is with 31.25mm shaft length in accordance with UE assembly instructions. I wrote down these info last year when I was experimenting with different shocks.

Huh... Could have swore OFNA 9.5 rear shocks were way too long.

I ran UE shocks with standard RPM towers and arms without issues really. I could push down and the chassis would bottom out about the same time the shocks did. The RPM towers would flex a bit, but I ran for a couple years that way without any real issues with shocks bending/breaking or axles popping out.

I think I have my UE's laying around here (couldn't part with em when I ditched the maxx) and I know I have 9.5 rears (from the savage thing I did). I should measure them up and see. I really thought the UE's were between fronts/rears in length.

hey olds if those UEs are a direct fit how much do you want for em. i have 8 Savage shocks that were too long for the T maxx to use. but i could trade em

They are old and worn. It think two of them have front shafts in them because at the time, I thought they were shorter than rears and UE didn't have any available. So I bought the shafts for the front.

I'll dig through my stuff and find them and make sure I still have them.
