Buggy Shocks on T-Maxx Project - Check the pictures out

I am currently working on a Cyber-maxx project and I am struggling with the shocks. I can now run 4 buggy shocks instead of 8 stock shocks. I have heard this is the way to go. I have not been able to find a shock yet I like I have tried the GS storm shock which looked like it saged in the rear??? I don't know I have put a Axial .28 with a JP-2 Exhaust on it so there is more weight there than normal. Any ideas on the shocks??? and what do you think about the truck. Almost done but not quite.

Ofna rear buggy shocks are what the UI super maxx shocks are. Its a good lookin truck guy. I'm planning on building a race maxx after I do up my E-Revo.

Do you mean UE supermaxx shocks. I looked for UI and couldn't find anything then I came across some UE ones. You think those will support the weight of the maxx now?? Thanks for all the comments!!

UE supermaxx if you can find them or pro line power strokes.
Ofna rears - 130mm
Ofna fronts - 110mm
UE - 123mm
Big bores - 108mm

Traxxas big bores (left)- 108mm
Ofna buggy front (including ravager) (center) - 110mm
UE supershocks (right) - 123mm

All measurements were taken between center of mounting holes. UE supershock length is with 31.25mm shaft length in accordance with UE assembly instructions. I wrote down these info last year when I was experimenting with different shocks.

Sorry for the barrage of photo's, just thought it might help you out a bit.

The UE shocks come with pretty stiff springs, so 4 shocks with the navy blue springs made it stand pretty tall all the time.

Ill start with thanks for all the comments on the truck. And I appreciate the info but from what I am seeing is that the ofna rear shocks are bigger and could handle more than the supermaxx shocks???? Is that right?? I think I am going to go with the 9.5 ofna buggy shock with the ofna white hard spring. What oil would you guys suggest me run in those? I am going to only have 2 on the back for now and leave 4 aluminum shocks on the front for now.

They are longer which means your arms will extend too far and more than likely damage your axles and hinge pins.

If you can't find a set of UE's (which are still a hair too long IMHO), I'd go with 1/8 buggy front shocks. To be honest, I think the front shocks would almost be a perfect fit, at least the Jammin XB ones I have in the photo would be. They appear to be built a bit shorter than the UE ones, but overall, not much. So you would get the beefiness of 1/8 scale shocks, but you would also get a max extension and compression length that is almost the same as stock maxx shocks.

Yea, my bad. I fudged the abbr. of the company name. Right now on my T-Maxx I'm actually running 1 stock shock at each corner with 60 wt. Team Losi silicone fluid and Team Trinity Xtra stiff baby blue springs. It's a pretty solid combo and it handles awesomely.

If the shocks are too long but you still want to run them, you can always cut a piece of fuel tubing and slip it over the shaft on the inside of the shock body. Just a cheap and easy travel limiter and it works great!

The kit that I have is from RC-Solutions and they say that it is made to accept rear buggy shocks all around. There is like 10 different holes in the shock tower to mount shocks. Does that matter?? sorry for the questions I am just trying to get the best shocks to handle some good bashing.

Ah, didn't realize RCS had that. Do they mention how long of a shock you can use? Or just "rear buggy shocks" is as accurate as it gets?

Maybe measure at full extension without a shock on it to see how much distance you have from arm hole to tower hole to figure out what you can fit. May be the easiest. With my photo's above, the UE shocks are only 13mm shorter than the OFNA 9.5 rear buggy shocks. So, if you have holes in your towers to compensate, then it's a done deal. Pick up 4 OFNA buggy shocks off ebay and call it a day.

It has the stock T-Maxx tranny so I have the orignal brake set-up

I am planning on firing this new engine up here in a couple days just waiting on my roto start to arrive. I can't wait to see this thing fly across the yard. I will post video of it running after I get it broke in.
