I got a wild hair and was thinking about getting a buggy. I don't know how long this current feeling will last but I figure I can at least research a little before I bought. I want something that's about as upgradable as a T-Maxx as well as something that'll be able to take anything I can dish out. 4X4 would be my choice but 2X4 might work for me. I'd prefer something that used a .21 engine as well as something that can be started from anything other than a pull cord, got a blister today. Any suggestions? Please link me to any sites that have information on your recommendations. Thanks.

Man, lots of choices here.

Electric or Nitro?

If electric, your only choice is a 2wd. Losi and AE being the best.

If nitro, your choice is just about limited to 1/8 4wd buggies. There are so amny choices here only limited by your wallet.

Can you narrow down what you'd like? I've been looking for a bugy too and settled on the Kyosho MP-7.5 Sports 1/8 4wd nitro buggy.

Oh, BTW 1/8 scale buggies are very upgradable and very durable.

Hey EP I know how you feel with the blister. I was finishing up breaking in my new engine for my maxx. I didnt even realize the blister until I ripped it open. It hurt like a SOB.

I have been looking at the Lightning Pro. If you do a search Rob seems to have nothing but good things to say about them.

Those are nice kits, but not RTR. That is the kit the Sport and Kanai editions are based off of. You will not go wrong with one of those.

What about an RTR, is there a good one available? I hate to bash my talents, or lack thereof, of building things that look good but well, you figure it out....:buggy1:

The Inferno 7.5 Sports RTR comes prebuilt with a typical rtr radio. I just got mine for under $500 from my LHS. I'm sure you can find a better deal on the net though. The ont Darth posted was what i have. The white one.

So far I'm very happy with it. I woud def suggest tweaking the suspension tho. Mine fails the 2 foot drop test miserably and tends to bounce a bit in the rough.

I havent started jumping anything just yet as I just got the engine sort of broken in (about 10 tanks) but I'll let you ll know once I really start bashing this thing.

HOT BODIES LIGHTNING PRO! I'm gettin mine in a week! :devious:you just need a radio system and ur ready to go. Search "hotbodies lightning pro" and go the the thread that has like 60 replys, that thing is loaded with info and a movie to show how it runs.

RCBoys.com has the best price i can fin on the net for the Lightning pro.

I was all set to get a Lightning Pro but I found it difficult to find parts. It had all the great features I wanted. The biggest was the price.....Only $320

Then i walked into my LHS and saw the Kyosho. The LHS owner runs nothing but Kyosho himself and after comparing the Inferno Sport to His racing buggy (that he wins the A-Main with 90% of the time) there was not much that needed to be upgraded.

The 4 buggies that I was racking my brain with were the Lightning, the Storm, the Inferno, and the MBX5. I narrowed it down to the Inferno & MBX5. When it came time to buy, having the Lightning in hand was worth much more than waiting for the MBX5 kit to be shipped then having to build it.

Get either the Kyosho Inferno MP 7.5 or the Mugen MBX. You can pound the living daylights out of these rides and they will be loyal to you every step of the way.

Check out that new video I posted in the 8th scale buggy forum. Mind you, I did that jump 18 times that day alone. Every single time I take it out it gets the snot beat out of it, and as always, it comes back for more. It loves me so!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, KICKASS on the track. My friend accross the street has a small, but cool, track on their land. So we put it through its paces there too!

Prices and where to buy? Any additional Information would be helpful too.

For the price I really liked the Lightning Pro better. But if I were not so impatient I would have waited for the Mugen MBX5. I am a firm believer in "one in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush" (lets not get perverted here :shhh: )

Heres the link for the Lightning Pro from RCBoys.

Heres the link for the Inferno Sports KIT with the GS21, no radio, servos, and unpainted body from Tower.

There is a difference in included parts. The one without the engine is the full blown 7.5. This is the closest you can be to the Kenai without having a Kenai.

The one with the engine is the "sports" model. There arent as many hop-ups in the "Sports" version.
