Tmaxx wouldn't start today and I noticed that fuel and bubbles was coming out around the bottom of the head? Keep in mind I am a newbie.... does this mean I have a crack in block? It didn't appear to be coming from the glow plug but it was at that level on the outside of the head (fins). Thanks, hotrodhall

Sounds like maybe your cooling head bolts are loose. Take them all out, clean the contact areas with DA and a paper towel. Make sure to hold the engine/truck upside down when you wipe off the engine or you could knock dirt inside onto the piston. Clean the head where it makes contact as well and make sure to not lose or damage the shim, you need that for a good seal.

Put the head back on and lightly tighten all 5 screws. Then in a star pattern, tighten each of them a little at a time so you get the head tightened down even.

i had that happen as soon as i did what olds 97 said that cured the problem right away

Thanks for the info. Next question what do you do if the guy before you has stripped out 2 of the 5 screws holding the head?:(

Hey olds 97? Don't mean to interupt the forum with a really stupid question but, what's this DA cleaning stuff your talking about? I've heard it mentioned a few times and I'm awful curious. Thanx.:)

Denatured Alcohol

Thanks for the info. Next question what do you do if the guy before you has stripped out 2 of the 5 screws holding the head?

Go to a auto parts store or hardware store, get some JB Weld. Make sure the heads of the bolts are clean, pack a little of the JB Weld into the heads, and use an old hex driver/allen key. Let the JB cure fully according to the instructions, and turn them out. One thing you could try, it to put a dab of WD-40 on the tip of the allen key before you set it in, and that should keep the JB from bonding to it.

When you get the screws out, buy new ones, throw out the old ones.

Ok, another stupid question....lol. what's the difference between da and rubbing alcohol? Is rubbing alcohol cool to use? Curious rcer here.lol....thanx.

Rubbing alcohol has water in it. DA doesn't. Less likely to cause rust. You can pick it up at pretty much any store that sells house paint. They keep it in tin cans near the paint thinner and whatnot.

JB weld did the trick. It ran better today than I can remember. Thanks,
