I have looked into the brushless and nitro cars. What car do you think would be better the team losi brushless or a hellfire? Thanks for all of your help.:celebrate2:

All I can say that I have a corally CCT onroad car with an 8 turn motor. (Not brushless but fast anyway)
My friends all had nitro 4 tec 3.3's and TC3's. Sure my car was fast but there was nothing like seeing those guys take off with a puff of smoke and the nitro roar. Also, my friends would run and then simply refill their gas tanks while I had to replace a battery. But ultimately it is up to you, a brushless car should be rock solid stable with minimal upkeep, also you can't run a nitro car everywhere and it needs way more upkeep but I'm glad I switched to nitro and won't go back.

Do your research after determining what your budget will bear. Do you have $300 to spend? Do you have $1000? Once you figure out what you can afford, go to your local hobby shop, since they will be your first support for parts and supplies. See what they carry, see what features you are looking for, and make a decision based on the knowledge you have accumulated.

Keep in mind, since your new to this, you also need a radio, fuel, charger, and all the other peripherals involved in running R/C cars.

i got 400 to spend!

Then you know the limits of your choices. Revos are out, Savages are out, and so are several others that you've asked about.
Consider the price of fuel, batteries, field equipment you'll need, replacing broken parts and upgrades, then decide if you want to buy it now, with a limited budget, or save up for something you really want.

i would go with the hellfire. I'm not sure what they cost but they are better than electrics and by that i mean you can run them for at least 2 hrs before your battery discharges, and you can go alot faster and louder.

NITRO!!!!!! nothing is better than the sweet smell of burnt nitro and the roar of the engine makes it more real. I will never goto electric again unless it is 1/16 scale for indoors

I Got About 400 450 To Spend On Just The Car. I Got 500 To 550 For Everything.

i don't know... all this nitro talk is one thing, but i spent the last 4 years in nitro.

now... i'm going brushless. i'm still working on a few projects to actually test the waters... but i think, overall, it's going to be a better hobby. for me... anyway.

brushless is considerably more expensive than nitro. keep that in consideration. ease of use... and just hitting an on switch and going is a huge plus for me. plus, i live in the city, so a roaring nitro engine really isn't an option, anymore.

are you on good terms with your neighbors? do you have a nice place to run your R/C? think, think, think.

I was purely nitro when I got back into the hobby a few years back and swore I would not get back into electric. Now I am 100% electric and run my RC’s more than I ever did when I was running nitro.

With current battery and motor technology, the advantage nitro once held over electrics has been rubbed out. My brushless e-maxx will put any nitro MT to shame and that is without running lipo packs which would put it over the top.

Call me old fashioned but me personaly, I would run nitro. I just love the sound of pure grunt. electrics may be nice and powerful but I just can't seem to replace the sound of my MBX5T pulling out of a turn and mashing on the nitro. I have tried...its cool to see it run but give me a gallon to run a nitro all day and I will be smiling ear to ear.

RCmonster...have you even tried to talk to your LHS about the cost difference? If you are going brushless, there are not too many companies that offer a brushless. In fact I have seen only a micro come brushless and the Losi Stadium truck. The Emax, you will have to updgrade to brushless. So the cost is going add up.

Try doing research. The forum can help you so much and the only thing we have seen come from your end is the ability to tell us how much cash you may have.

here here!

that's what i'm talking about! the torque generated by brushless motors now is incredible. i wasn't into the hobby back when they weren't... or i didn't know about the stuff... but electric vehicles have shown some pretty impressive results.

plus... it's green!!

oh... and i think your name should take you to the proper place... http://www.rc-monster.com/index.php

Nice looking custom truck there but I have to agree with Jon2, I think nitro just gives you more excitement. I think when the brushless set ups go down in price some they will take over electric RC completely.

depends what you want it for. The brushless would deliver more power than the nitro but has a short run time (unless you have a stack of batteries).
I personally would choose the nitro as they have more run time than the electric and in my opinion more exciting

With the increased capacity of todays batteries, and high efficiency of brushless motors it is possible to get 30-45+ minutes of runtime with a single battery pack. That said, when was the last time you ran your RC (nitro or electric) hard for 30-45 minutes non-stop without having a part break that ended your run prematurely? With my driving skills I'm lucky to get 10 minutes in before something breaks.

I hear you on the parts breaking. Either Brushless or Nitro, the RC is propelled into speeds that can break parts. So whatever is chosen, your skill level is going to really determine the maintenace costs.

I know that I have driven my RC's well in to the 45 minute mark. After that my wife or kids start asking me "are you going to ever stop?"

nitro

I'm personally a big nitro fan. yea they have very fast electric cars but the thing is even if you carry 10 or 15 batterys around there still all gunna die and take for ever to charge up again. but with nitro you can go all day long and the gas lasts longer than a battery. but switching to electric also mNO MORE TUNING!!! lol
