Well, that took long. I've blown the glued shock tower. (guess I should have called this thread "told you so". In the glues defense ...it was real cold, and "tap" is not the word I would use to define the mannor in which I hit the frozen snow bank. I took 3 or 4 small airs that didn't even phase the tower before that faithful moment but I guess the fun wont last forever.

So now that new shock towers are in order, nylon or aluminum? Do either come in the 2.5 format yet (with the extra shock mount positions)? Either one outlast the other. Anyone ever broken a nylon or an aluminum tower?

...and until I hear your verdicts, where's my CA glue hiding!

Aluminum is pretty, heavy expensive and will bend. Once it bends, it is done for, you can't bend it back.

Nylon is uglier, lighter, cheaper and more resiliant.

I would check RPM www.rpmrcproducts.com to see if they have shock towers for the 2.5 yet. RPM's waranty is unbeatable. If you break it, they will replace it. I would buy two of everything from them though, cause if you do break something, you have to send it back to them which can take some time, which means no maxxing.

On a final note, gluing something will never last, there is too much stress put on parts.

Like I was saying, RPM, can't beat it. Either price or warranty. For parts like this, its, SIMPLY THE BEST!

Do it up. You will be happy you did. And so will your ride.....

RPM is a great solution and with their warrany/guarantee program you can't lose.

Personally, I use aluminum shock towers (Hardcore Racing) and have yet to have any problems with them. You can ask Pirata, I take mine just about anywhere (airborne, mud, water, etc). I have not bent them nor do I expect to. Unless it gets run over by a car or some such catastrophe, I don't think I will need to change them. Just a note, getting tanked by a full sized car or some other large accident will most likely total the RPM parts too.

i have all rpm plastic parts on my maxx and there great but i havnt broken one yet so i couldnt expierence their waranty process with replacing them for life i believe...

I have all rpm parts on my maxx. Get the RPM's like we said in the last post. Also dont worry about all the mounting holes in the 2.5. RPM has already stated that a mojorit of those holes are self defeting and you can get the same setup by varring top and bottom holes. X

I didn't really think the extra holes would make that big of a difference, specially when I'm just bshing for now. I called my LHS and they have nylon towers in so I'm gonna get a new one tomorrow.

Thanks all!
