First of all not my maxx but KoRnKiD's but he did a pretty good job of it..we got together for a bash today.. he had a cracked A-Arm so I fixed that before we left..We went to a local BMX track and were bashing our trucks around.. chased a squirell (sp) around rooted up som barkdust... then I heard him yell... well you know.... glanced over thought his truck died looked back and the LF tire was halfway down the side of the truck..by now he was running towards it and He brought back the truck assesed the damage turned out to be 1 popped shock cap 1 BADLY bent shaft (Cap popped off later) and broken Upper+lower a-arm... tok it to LHS got he needed parts didn't have the stock shocks in stock but told us to beat the shaft with a hammer because the shock was wasted but we only had 20 bux and coulldn't afford hop u shox.. took it home cleaned it up Fixed the shock (much cussing involved) put some 20 WT oil he had in them fixed the a-arms and we were done...The thing I disliked the Most about this was the fact that he bro the a-arm I replaced earlier...

My maxx siiting on the floor in it's non/never broken form....

what is the Wt of the Stock shock oil????

we would have pictures but his stupid a$$ Digital camera deleted them

EDITED for accuracy. Thank you X.

Stock weight is 30. Going with the lighter weight oil will reduce the damping of the shock. This means the shock will be able to move very rapidly through its full range of motion. It also means that the shocks will be "soft". You will see it bottom out more readily on big jumps.

Another inexpensive mod to your shock is a bump stop. This is used to prevent the shock from compressing all the way, and thus preventing the blowing of the shock caps (or so the theory goes). Take a 1/4 to 3/4 inch length of fuel tubing. Place it on the shaft (the portion external to the cylinder) between the cylinder and the rod end. Then put your rod end back on and springs and go. I use 1/2 bump stops and have yet to bottom out my truck or blow a cap (of course I use aluminum shocks, but the bump stops worked on the stock shocks until I upgraded).

I might try that.... did I mention that earlier in the day we were testing after the "FIRST" a-arm "FIX" well turned out his reciever was shot so we traded for the one in his dad's truck (motor's shot)
and worked fine... weall all I can say is that it wakes you up.. now all I need is some extra fuel line...

we would have used 35WT but the heaviest he had was 20 so we used it

I thought stock weight was 30 too, thanks for clearing that up X. I actually use 50 wt in my Dynamite/Losi shocks, with trinity blue springs.

Hey...I can't be right all the time. Could of sworn mine came with 35 wt (at least that is what the LHS guy told me when I needed more). Then I traded up to 60wt and aluminum shocks. Glad someone straightened me out; just not so glad it was X ;) Just kidding X.

You have the best shocks there are in my opion. My maxx came with Big bores becuase I bought mine built to order you could say from backspur. He is now running the losi shocks on his new race 2.5 and they are the poop in my opion. I think the losi's are the best shocks out there personally.

Dude trust me I didn't like correcting you any more than you liked me doing it.. X

I love em, but I had to use the stock traxxas lower retainers because the Dynamites were to small with the bigger trinity springs. The Dynamite springs suck! Thats why I just bought the trinity when i bought the shocks.

That sucks about him breakin the same a-arm's you replaced. He should upgrade to rpm. Then it wont cost him a dime because they have a lifetime gaurentee.

Yep my maxx had alot of firsts that day
1.First runaway
2.First run into a truck
3.First time at a track
4.First BIG BROKEN PART's
that day was just not my day nor was it my maxxes day

I think Maxxcrazy is a bad luck charm. But i thank him for helping me put my maxx back together.

Bloodred gave a good suggestion. I run all rpm on my truck if they make it I run it and the only thing I ever break is damn skids and bulks. X

RPM just came out with the new wide maxx suspension that makes it as wide as the new stock 2.5 t-maxx. If you get yourself some of them and maybe some rpm off set rims you'll be set. You break something just upgrade it with rpm. Then it wont matter if you or your t-maxx is having a bad day.

I have the 2.5 and I will be getting the RPM widemaxx arms soon (well as soon as I get some $$$$$, My wallet only has about 10 bux in it right now so it's a little thin.. I remember when I had 300 in it those were the good old days :naughty:)

wouldn't the offset rims make the truck wider than it is long???? wouldn't that make it understeer badly???

It would make steering harder but its not wider. My neighbor put monster pirate rims and tires on his t-maxx and it was only an inch wider then it was long. The offset rims I'm sure wouldn't be as wide.

yeah oh he forgot to mention we broke his Hs-5645 servo in properly.. don't ya think
