I have my Savage x 4.6 10 days, running great, but have haad a few roll overs and crashes into snow banks, (Canada !!) After todays run noticed over 1/2 of my antenna is missing. Both the antenna tube and wire are now 5inches long. I didn't notice any reduced response to radio control. Is this a problem. Can it be easily repaired or does it need to be replaced.

I had the same problem with my savage about a month ago where it took half my antenna off but it still ran O.K. but i took it to my LHS and the guy said that it could become a problem so i let him put a new antenna in.

I had that problem a lot when I ran my lst-2 that has a roll cage without the body the antenna would get cut right off when it got pinched by the cage. Well worth replacing the antenna, the receiver is tuned for a fairly specific length of wire so it being short can lead to problems.
One thing that can help make it more durable is to put some short pieces of fuel tubing on the antenna tube so it doesn't get pinched as easy, you can see the short green ones in this pic

It needs to be replaced at the Rx. You haven't noticed a problem yet because you haven't gotten it far enough away from you. I hope you have a failsafe in it, because as soon as you reach that point, you'll have no control.
