Somehow I broke off the screw head that holds the clutchbell on. This happend on the stock savage engine. I didnt even tighten it down hard, and it just popped off :OMG: Any help on getting this out would be great.

the only way to fix it is to get a hammer and start pound....out:cheerful: :classic: :hehe:

hammer? why use that when u can use a tiny drill bit and drill in a little then hope it sticks and put it in reverse and it should some out.

How much of the screw threads are showing? any?

The craftsmen 'screw out' bits work great for screws like that one. 10-20 bucks will get you the kit you need and you can use it on more than just your R.C..

yeah then just try and drill it out.

but use a little drill bit so it dont rune the threads.

looks like a trip to Depot 2morrow, thanks for the replies

Be VERY careful on drilling out that screw. You dont want to warp/crack/strip the crank. Id stick with the 'screw out' by craftsmen. It is a tap/drill bit all in one.

also drilling it (a clockwise motion) may screw it in even harder.

Just do like Çh®i§tiªñ said and buy an easy out or screw out bit to remove it.

thanks 4 all the help. If I end up breaking the crank shaft, guess I'll have to get the picco .26:yes:

Thankx Christian I am headed to Sears for my lunch break. I have a couple of these badboys I need to address. Nothing as serious as my clutchbell though

UPDATE... I was using the easy out and everything was cool, I started to see the screw starting to back out, then it happend, the easy out bit broke off inside of the shaft along with the screw!!! So I said F#@* it and ordered me the Picco .26:mobile: Believe it or not but it was my girlfriends idea!!! can't argue with that:yes: Also I called HPI and they said to send the engine to them and they would fix it (not expecting that). So needless to say today is a great day!!!

And hey, take in that bit and they will replace it for free too!

First I've heard of one breaking but its a craftsmen.....

I'm probably gonna sell it to help pay for the Picco .26. Interested??
